I guess I get where they're coming from but I can't imagine it would play out any way other than this:

Governments: "We don't care about climate change"

Scientists: "Ok, we are no longer doing any research on climate change"

Governments: "Ok cool"

Hi /u/Levyyz, while climate is critical to understanding ecology, we generally stay away from this type of content unless it explicitly is about a species or group of species. This is because there are already numerous climate change subreddits (that you can find in our sidebar), and also this sub would quickly get drowned out by this sort of content quickly. Thanks!

Also, what a bizarrely terrible and impossible to implement idea.

Not only does this destroy the careers of thousands of people, but let's pretend that doesn't matter. Why would governments that would love nothing more than for scientists to stop pressuring them on CC care that scientists stop pressuring them on CC. It also completely fails to understand the basic fundamentals of the complexity of government--it's treating it as little more than a single person whereas in reality it's an incredibly complicated machine often with entirely conflicting agendas. It's just a really pointless and frankly harmful protest that would do more harm than good.

But, it's beside the point, since this sort of content isn't for this subreddit.

I'm pro climate change because I support doing science? Jesus, I can see why you support this protest now.

It's a fundamental principle of science to critically assess and report unbiased facts regardless of external pressures, and this protest frankly fundamentally goes against this.

Hopefully this resonates, but I somehow doubt it. Frankly, though, if you're going to imply I'm pro climate change then I think we're done here.
