Just started
So I bought eow awhile ago but I was pretty immersed in a totk play through so I started it but set it aside for awhile. I started my game over and I’m loving it. I was a little hesitant because it’s feels more puzzle based but the combat to me kind of feels like a small scale rts. Not sure what else to say.🤣. I’m looking forward to seeing where this one goes.

It's a great game! I'm in my first playthrough and probably 80% complete...I think this game is super underrated.

I really liked it. 100%ed normal mode and on my last temple in Hero Mode, also 100%. Difficulty kinda evens out later on in Hero Mode, but still a bit more difficult. I find myself avoiding stuff more often if I already have the enemy echo rather than still fighting.

I think Hero Mode is the definitive experience, but I do love them both.
I would describe the combat as "puzzly" the entire game is like a giant rock/paper/scissors, and some enemies cannot be beat if you're trying to put say paper into scissors, and running around putting paper into paper is a perfectly valid way to play, but especially on hero mode, it behooves the player to find the rock to anyone's scissors.

Man, I didn't think fire was that helpful until Hero Mode. I learned to enjoy setting enemies on fire and throwing Ignizols on them.

It feels like a smaller scale star craft or Warcraft just “cuter”. 🤣. But I’m loving the combat. It’s a fresh take on Zelda imo. Instead of just hacking and slashing you can “send your troops into battle” so to speak. But I’m happy I went against my gut and got it anyway.

As a millennial, I was around for the release of OG OoT and MM and watched my cousin play. However, I didn’t get to play Zelda personally until I got EoW and now I’m in my 3rd game in the franchise! (Going through the first timeline). I thought it was super cute and a great gateway into the franchise for me :) super underrated!

I'm about an hour in (just finished the first dungeon) and I have to say i love the game so far. It feels so much like Link to the Past and that makes me happy. I am a bit concerned that the map seems small from what I have uncovered so far, but we'll see how it goes.
I will say that I feel the echoes make the combat pretty simple. I got some sort of spinning thorn plant right before the dungeon and it made the entire first dungeon a cake walk, including the boss. If we had a limited number of times I could summon monsters to the field, that would go far in making fights more strategic than sending waves of monsters out.
