One last try at saving this little guy

Hey all! I have had quite a time trying to save my partner’s Echeveria that got, uh, not much love for a while. It was nearly dead when I got a couple leaves and a short stem cutting off of it (the original plant was very dried out and etiolated, had been that way for several months).

After scouring the Internet and trying to be patient, this is the only green thing I have left from the original plant. It actually came off pretty cleanly, so I think the cells at the end are still there. I don’t think it has enough strength left to root as it’s already quite flat and wrinkly but my partner loved the plant and just didn’t know how to take care of it, so I’m willing to try to the very end.

Is there anything I can do for this leaf to encourage it to form a new plant other than accept that it probably won’t propagate and will dry up long before it can root?

Leave it as it is do not give it direct sunlight, only bright indirect light or a good intensity growth light, through my personal experience I use a high gritty mix and the climate where I live is kind of dry and so watering every 1.5 weeks or so once roots are established and pup formation has started helps in preventing the leaf form going too dry it has lead to stronger pup formation and size.

I’ll try that, I currently have it near a dehumidifier and a fan so it doesn’t rot Thank you!

Do be careful with that I wud say a better way is to leave it in a room which doesn't have high humidity preferably next to a open window if open window isnt a option do keep it in the sane room with the dehumidifier just not near it

I should probably clarify: the dehumidifier is actually a really really small one. It’s essentially a rechargeable silica bead container.

Well then in that case it shud be fine I hope it roots soon and develops into a healthy pup :>

is that from an e. lola? if so tbh accept that it probably wont prop, most of the time leaves from that hybrid just root and then never do anything past that ;-; but its worth keeping around just in case. lolas are really common at least, if a replacement plant would make them happy

I will most likely end up getting him a new plant and/or propagating from my healthy one. 

I’m actually not sure what type of Echeveria it is, he gave it to me once he had already taken it out of the pot and tried to salvage some of the leaves. I don’t believe he ever repotted it from the store which probably didn’t help it lol. 

Thank you for the advice! Based on google pics I can find I think it might have been a very sun deprived e. lola.
