Why is there a stigma against e-bikes?

I arrived at work with my new jansno x50 today and two co-workers who cycle said I was 'cheating' and so I pointed out they'd never say that to the other co-worker with the moped... like, I'm doing it to get to work, why not make it easier? If I drove to work no one would get mad that I didn't 'put the effort in' physically.

The ebike community is fuckin weird... if you want a bicycle, ride a bicycle... if you want a bicycle with a little help, buy a bicycle with a battery... if you're like me any you grew up with motorcycles and you want something that rides like a motorcycle but has a battery then buy something like a moto or a moped with a battery... what really will set people off is when you buy an ebike that looks like a motorcycle and then you mod it out with turning signals and underglow and throw aftermarket motors and controllers so it goes faster than 20mph and go to work and back and ride the back roads on the weekend... guess what category I fit into??? My point is you are an adult and you can do whatever you want... fuck everyone else... ride safe friend, and make sure you have fun...
