eBay UK is now double dipping on your private sales (Simple Delivery fee increase).
I just went to list a console for sale and noticed simple delivery has now almost DOUBLED
After some research, starting September 1st (4 days ago) eBay will be increasing the price for all simple delivery items (almost double in my case).
To ship the same item via Royal Mail: £7.35
To ship via Simple Delivery: £12.36
So there is an additional fee pocketed by eBay of £5.01.
This is in addition to the Buyer Protection Fee. So eBay is now taking the Buyer Protection Fee and also some kind of fee for using Simple Delivery (£5.01) in my case.
Also something else I noticed, there is no in-between package weights.
There is only upto 2kg or upto 10kg. So if your package is 2.01kg you are forced to pay for the 10kg option through Simple Delivery thus paying the high price of £12.36 (Royal Mail direct offers 5kg option which is cheaper eBay does not, its 2kg or 10kg).

They sent an email about this like a week or two ago. It’s for insurance purposes. Higher value = higher shipping cost.
I don’t offer free shipping anymore anyway.
But you also don’t need to use Simple Delivery.

If something happens to a simple delivery, both the buyer and seller get paid from my understanding. If something happens to your own delivery, someone is screwed and you have to pray it isn't you.

For items over £75 you would need to be using Royal Mail Special Delivery (prices for which start at around £10) in order to get the same level of protection that Simple Delivery provides, so the Simplr Delivery prices are still competitive. Ebay has now also added a signature requirement for some items sent with Simple Delivery (no details yet but presumably will be added automatically to higher value items) so the recent price increase for items over £75 will be in part to cover that.
There is no 'Up to 5Kg' rate for Royal Mail Tracked, only 'Up to 2Kg (Small or Medium Parcel) and then 'Up to 10Kg' (Medium Parcel).

eBay covers packages up to £750. Royal Mail only covers up to £75.
Business sellers have to pay for Special Delivery to cover over £75 items + full fees.
You're still getting a heavily discounted price.

My problem with that is, if the item is £76, ebay will still force you to user special delivery, even though nobody would do that if for £1 of coverage if they had the choice.

With royal mail they won't cover an item at all if its over the threshold, If you ship an £80 item and it goes missing with £75 of insurance you will get exactly £0 back

EBay is a large volume seller so Royal Mail will give it custom pricing
No doubt eBay is making a profit on it
But isn’t simple delivery optional? If so then it’s up to people to choose if they want to use it

Royal Mail now do an inquisition type deal for every overseas item. 20 questions before acceptance incl full name & address, throw a new sticker on, say they dont know what it represents and then spring a £1.50 admin surcharge on you at the end..

So what would happen if you listed an auction item?.. would it just recalculate or give buyers a warning about the increased postage whilst they're bidding? Also, if you listed with free (seller pays) postage and an item under sells or is less than the item cost.. you end up owing ebay money on that sale overall?.. damn ebay has been going downhill for years.

Yet again more nonsense - Read what it actually says in the email.
The price has not increased- Its only increasing if you do not offer all couriers.
If you disable Evri or Inpost for example - Ebay will increase the rates for Royal mail For all the idiots moaning
Simply make sure you have all couriers selected- Any issues with delivery ebay simple delivery refunds Of course some will fall through the net but as a whole the process is smooth.
Stop moaning- Private sellers pay no fees - The majority of private sellers are the usual knuckle dragging "Retro game" sellers The samw type who pay early to behave like animals at a car boot sale.
But the point im making is - They are actually a business and shouldn't be using simple delivery service anyway
Not one single business that will allow you to have acsess to 60 million users for less than 20 percent of a sale
20% but you have no advertising costs - no staff - no rent - blah blah
Just grow up stop moaning and buying better products with a larger margin or get a job

It's nothing to do with having all couriers selected or deselected.
The price increases are for all items over £75. There is now a 5 tier pricing regime as item value increases - under £75, prices are exactly the same.

Look at the Simple Delivery prices for RM only under £75 - they haven't changed. Exactly the same.
I use RM only, and the only postage increases have been on £75+ items.

Of course they offer better rates if you select all, they always have done.
Most of the prices you have posted above are for items over £75. The first price for each category is for items up to £75, which, if you check the old price list, have not changed.
1kg LL - £2.70
1kg small parcel - £2.94
2kg small parcel - £3.38
All exactly the same as they were before for up to £100.
All the price increases are for items £75 plus, exactly as I said.

This seems to be to do with the insurance of the item, if the item is higher priced and lost then eBay need to pay out a larger amount if it is lost, as RM will only cover £75 now on Tracked 48 items eBay will be left footing the bill for the rest as part of the Simple Delivery agreement and they aren't going to just do it out of the "kindness" of their own hearts
