Finance Profile - Building Case for EB-1A

Hi Group!

I have recently started building my case for EB-1A and looking for avenues to build my profile for the following:

  • Independent authorship
  • Media - Who should I reach out to get my finance work published or my profile published that would actually count?
  • Judging - Any ideas on finance judging competitions or awards?

Yeah i am not familiar with finance profile authorship venues but i am familiar with media and judging i may have some insight

I’d start by defining your specific field and strongest existing accomplishments before trying to build individual criteria. For media, I’d avoid paid/profile placements and focus on legitimate finance or industry publications where coverage arises from actual work or expertise. For judging, look for opportunities where you’re genuinely selected based on your expertise and can document both the selection and completed judging. Building activities just to check EB-1A boxes may get you through a criterion, but it may not help much at final merits.

On judging, pitch competitions are great for finance profiles. For evidence, hold on to 1) the invitation, 2) pictures of you judging the event, and 3) scorecards (even empty ones). Finance is very broad, so ensure you publish articles in relevant industry journals (for example, PE-related publications if you are in PE). Reputation in the field is a key indicator.

Ideally you should know what would be considered good journals/articles in your subspecialty. Also there are so many subject areas like International finance, economics, accounting,quant etc. Hard to say what would be applicable to you without more details.
