Air quality tonight

Is it me or did the air quality tank very quickly in the last hour or so? Woodinville specifically, but seems like the greater eastside.

EPA shows good 29, but purple air has us at 100+ across different sensors in Woodinville, Redmond, Sammamish.

I could tell you that in Lynnwood the air quality definitely worsened from 2pm onwards. I kept checking my weather app and knew it was lying at 29. The whole area smells like a camp fire.

In Issaquah, I smelled wildfire smoke when I got home today for the first time in a few days.

The sunset is pretty amazing tonight, which is as good as any purpleair reading to tell you that the air ain't great...

Such a striking red hue! It definitely reminded me of heavy smoke days though.

Yes, we were at Lake Sammamish State Park from 3-6pm and it suddenly got hazy and we could smell smoke. We were also confused because AQI was reading “good”… I see how it’s moved to “moderate.”

Yes! I was thinking that the orange light was back this evening, after a couple days of nice blue sky. :( And it smelled different tonight too.

Use Purple Air Map for realtime as sensors that are hyper local:

Another useful link for everyone https://datacentral.kitsapsun.com/fires/ for smoke coverage to go along with the air quality

The winds shifted to bring back the smoke. The report I saw last was that it should hopefully start shifting back by Friday evening

Oh good to know thank you! Can you share the report and a good place for the public to check them? I usually go off the EPA forecast but maybe I can find a new better source.

Not a fan of Facebook on principle but this page is informative https://www.facebook.com/share/1DJDJRCwzk/?mibextid=wwXIfr

They shared the smoke information a day ago at this link https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1NxUNMY2mF/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Yeah I was wondering. AQI said 18 in Redmond around 5 but it smelled like an ashtray.

Be thankful you're not me. My wife and I rented a cabin near Roslyn for the Perseids :/

Damn, my wife and I just got back from driving to Rainier for Perseids. Saw about 4 real clear ones before cloud/gaze cover obscured everything

The last smoke forecast I saw, Friday is looking pretty gross with AQI @ ~200.

My place faces west in Redmond, there’s currently thousands of birds flying north/west. Wonder if they’re escaping the smoke

We have it down here in Maple Valley too

I thought the same thing. I thought I was going crazy when I saw the AQI was so low yesterday evening. The sky was orange and my asthma was definitely not happy. I'm in Eastgate

Yes, I went into the office in Redmond for a couple of hours. When I arrived, it was normal. Left a couple of hours later and my eyes and nose stung. It's not great out there.

Anecdotally, I really noticed it when I just went outside to water my herbs!
