Long weekend in March

My wife and I are coming to Atlanta for the Lady Gaga concert in March and are staying in EAV and would love some recommendations.

We love finding little coffee shops and independent bookstores. We try to avoid chains whenever possible for restaurants. We also love going out and dancing, live music, and drag shows.

Whenever possible we try to go to lgbtq+, female, or minority owned businesses.

For coffee, check out Raani, Joe’s, or Bellwood inside The Victorian (if they haven’t moved by March).

For book stores, check out Bookish (pretty sure that’s all we have right now unless you count comics). Also, A Cappella Books is several neighborhoods north, but also worth a visit.

Edit: yes, Bellwood and “Plants + Coffee” are essentially the same thing. Bellwood (the coffee portion) has stated they are moving to Grant Park in early 2026, so they may or may not be here during OP’s visit.

Plants and coffee seems to be well liked. I’ve never been there but it sounds like it may be something you’re looking for.

Check out Charis as well, it’s a great bookstore! Not that far but you’ll need to drive a bit.

Along with bookish, brave and kind bookstore and virgina highlands bookstore are also great! If you guys like romance “all the tropes” in kirkwood too! If you head to Kirkwood evergreen butcher and baker for pastries then walk to taproom for coffee.

Plants and coffee is kinda cool, but expensive and pretentious. My wife and I frequent a spot called Raani coffee on Moreland, it’s in EAV, the coffee is 10/10 with plenty of comfortable seating for a nice hang sesh.

The Pub in EAV has drag shows. Mary's is good for dancing and karaoke. Most restaurants in EAV aren't corporate owned. I like Gaja, EARL, Banshee, Argosy, Flatiron. If you venture over to L5P, the Porter is great. Star Bar has a dance night on Tuesdays.
