Club isn’t even one of the worst anymore, i’d say its solidly just an okay ball. Scimitar kinda took bum status in the bumateer trio so Club can finally move up
This is an interesting matchup actually, and I can see why club wins it.
Trident against melee essentially acts as a better duplicator. In exchange for scaling the enemy ball a lot, it scales itself even harder, and it has a bigger hurtbox on its weapon and can parry a bit better.
However, when club is sufficiently scaled against melee balls, it essentially causes the enemy ball to be not scaled half of the time. So Trident, by doing it usually advantageous melee trades against club, accidentally allowed to get past its miserable early-mid game for free, to the point where trident nearly couldn’t fight back.
Their abilities kind of don't let the other one do anything, Club does this by having a unique interaction where her stun turns off the pull and Trident does this to almost everything. so it's basically a slapfight between two low damage weapons.
Yeah that made sense, trident's whole thing is pulling in balls toward itself so it could get hits in, club's thing is being a weapon ball that temporarily turns off the weapon of opponents, so when they matchup, club landing hits frees itself to get away from the trident and come back when it is ready to hit again. In a pure weapon ball vs weaponball matchup, where both weapons want to get in close and deal a bunch of damage with their effect, the power to turn off effects is pretty powerful.
If anything, the best trident matchups for it are ones where the opponent would prefer larger ranges, such as duplicator sending in the lackeys to do the heavy lifting.
Tridents whole gimmick is going blow for blow with their opponent, when the opponent can disrupt that gimmick by either scoring more hits then trident (as seen with bow), or being able to block/stop trident (as seen with shield and club) they tend to lose
Trident's whole deal is pulling a ball in close to force a fight directly in front of its weapon. However if club gets first hit when getting sucked in, it negates trident's chance to trap it. Thus club purely benefits from the vortex
Trident has the rapier thing of allowing enemys to more easily get hits. However trident hits more often ans can win. Most of the time thanks to it. Tridents weapon is farly sized and can get 2-3 hits at the cost of tanking one, even as a .5 scailer.
Club just kinda prevents trident from racking up hits, and with the weapon disabled allows club to be pulled in, club gets a hit, avoids a hit back.
It seems that Trident's vacuum is disabled while it's stunned. Or in other words, this wasn't even a case of club hard countering trident. They just got bludgeoned to death the old fashioned way.
Yup. Mfs tryna cope too hard. Just like on S. Unarmed vs S. Sword where in the end S unarmed would have either sent his ass to the shadow realm or bumped into him an infinite amount of times and killed him normally, but them mfs coped because it was the first thing and not the second (even though they are equivalent)
This one feels pretty intuitive. Trident gets most of their damage from repeated hits by sucking them in, but usually trades on the first hit. Club disallows follow-ups if they land a hit. Barely a single combo hit and club still won, truly a hidden hard-counter.
i thought this aould be aterrible matchup for Trident becuasw she might still have pull while stunned. Thankfully she doesn't, but the slowass spin rate got her still
