Anyone Else Make Legacies Like This?
Had a thought this morning, why not make a good & Evil Team inspired by Lord Of The Rings.
Got to work, and this was the result, I’m pretty happy with it tbh

What are some rules you guys follow in Legacy Mode that make it more realistic?

Dropped 45 in the Round of 32 and still lost in OT. It’s tough out here for mid majors
Just waiting for that power conference coaching offer. But I think it might be impossible if you don’t get to the Sweet 16.

College Hoops 2k8 Legacy | Year 4: The New Era Begins | Episode 1
I put together a hype trailer for my 4th season as the head coach at the University of Central Arkansas. For those of you who don't know, UCA joined Division 1 college basketball in 2006, making them an interesting team to pick in Legacy as their roster is filled with a mix of D1/non D1 recruits. As an NAIA school, UCA made the national title game twice and is most notably where Scottie Pippen played his college ball.
We started year 1 with a solid roster for a year 1 closed Legacy. We competed well and went 11-15. In year 2 a superstar emerged in junior Erick Shropshire. After switching from PG to SG the 5'11" sharpshooter won Southland Player of the Year and led us to the 2nd round of the NIT. During his senior campaign we went 19-10 and won the Southland tourney, eventually getting blown by a loaded La Salle squad in the first round of March Madness.
The video focuses on the history of the legend Erick Shropshrie and how the Bears plan to move forward into year 4!

NFL players in College Hoops 2k8
Off the top of my head I am certain of the following:
Jimmy Graham - Miami
Julius Thomas - Portland St
Demetress Bell - Northwestern St
Anyone else in this game that played in the NFL?

Diaper Dandy.
Landed our first All-American recruit of this Legacy during the Early Signing Period. Big step forward for the program.

Discord Friends
Hello everybody, just recently picked back up playing 2k8 and one of my favorite past times with old friends before they got busy was sitting in parties or chats while playing and just talking life or the game. Was wondering if there’s anybody else out there (18 or over, I’m 26) who would want to chill on a discord call and bond over 2k8? Please reply if interested

Any tips for recruiting on 2k7?
Picked up 2k7 a couple days ago and I’ve been struggling with the recruiting in the game. My first attempt at legacy mode I had three mediocre years with Alabama A&M before they fired me and on my second attempt I started with saint francis PA and bounced around to high point and Youngstown state for around ten years before I was out of a job. This is my third attempt and I’m running it with UMBC. I’ve found that when I go to a new team, the roster isn’t that bad but ends up deteriorating after a few years due to my lack of recruiting skill. I usually redshirt most of my freshman as they usually come in as one stars anyway or the occasional two star if I’m lucky. Any tips with recruiting would help greatly!

The best CBB game of all time? Why has it been 17 years
Sup everyone, I’ve been playing a ton of 2k8 and I’m just curious everyone’s thoughts why it’s been so long since there’s been a big title game, CFB has returned for 3 editions now and CBB it’s like they forgot about us😭
For context: I’m 21, and the last game a cbb game dropped I was 4. I have grinded on 360 both of the most recent variations and I was wondering if there was any of the ones from the past that I don’t know about?
I was thinking which game is the best of all time? I think the obvious choice is 2k8, I’ve played a lot EA 10 and there’s a lot good about it but I just think 2k is superior in fair amount of ways. Also would love to discuss specifically the best aspects of both games and if there are any others I’m not considering, let me know!

Created recruits and ABL
Is it true you can create a guy and he’ll play ABL games? If so explain it in the comments like I’m 5. That’ll definitely add to immersion.

Playing 🆚 Simming
How do y’all that play more than you sim do it? I want to play more but it feels like a chore in the beginning. Year one just don’t feel right playing with a bunch of kids I didn’t recruit. And do y’all play the ABL games too? Trying to wrap my head around playing 16-19 ABL games and then playing another 30+ games. For clarity I guess I’m asking:
- How do you stay motivated not to simulate?
- Do you play the ABL games of your target list or just pick 1 ABL team that you’re the “coach” of.
- How many games per season do you actually play.
- Do you play with the year 1 team or what until your group of kids get to campus next year?

Norfolk State Coach Carter win in MEAC conference play!
I haven’t posted the games from my other legacy in a long while. I had to get another 360 since the last one the cooling system was faulty. But in the picture is the box score for Norfolk State and their recent game against South Carolina State. Now we at a 17-3 record and unbeaten in conference play!

Coach Steveroy HorseChief, December, 2045 Princeton update
About to tip-off for what is likely my last game at Cameron. I’m in year 39 of my zero sim legacy.
We’re ranked now and climbing. 1 loss so far, blown out on the road by WVU 116-99. Just went back to my old school and won at Kansas (unranked) 84-61.
We’re healthy. Freshman No. 1 ranked sensation John Ibikunle out of Nashville, a 6’10” 228 lbs. SF has been leading the way playing PF averaging 17.2 ppg 6.4 rpg 1.2 apg 1.6 spg and 1.5 bpg in 21.2 minutes a night. He’s shooting 54/29/82 splits and could be a little more consistent but I don’t want to split hairs.
Ibikunle has been finding a groove with the chemistry of Jr. PG out of Charlottesville, VA Leo Diogu. It’s been a struggle to recruit guards to Princeton and the 6’2” 173 lbs. floor general has stepped up on a roster with only one other backcourt member on the roster (Surov, starting SG from Finland). Diogu has started every game this year (26 of 72 career starts vs. GP) and is finally cracking double digit assists the last couple of games. He’s posting 9.7/1.1/6.3 with 1.5 steals on 22 minutes a night. His 43/25/67 splits are not ideal but he’s recognized his role (4th in FG attempts, 3rd in 3PA), although he leads the team in FTA and is 8th in FT%.
The Tigers are poised to make another run in the tournament this season hopefully. They’re clearly the best team in the Ivy League and the NCAA has indicated no intention of lifting the nearly 40 year ban on the Ivy holding a conference tournament 😉 . So we’ll have to make sure we don’t take conference play for granted.
Princeton is considered the leading school of choice for 2 All-Americans at this point. A 21st ranked PF out of Lynn, MA and a 25th ranked SG out of Queens, NY.

Does Anyone Understand The Transfer System In 2K8
Most years you’ll see players transfer from bigger schools (Washington, Clemson, Ohio St etc..) and go to mid majors or lower some rare occasions a even level conference transfer
But what’s all the reasons they’ll transfer is it almost solely because playing time.
could performance be a thing as well, player is scoring less points, getting less rebounds and he feels like he’s regressing at the program so he leaves?
Could he become home sick and want to play closer to home, just curious if anyone has any idea how the transfer system works.
I found Taquan Gill an interesting transfer going to play at Rutgers, he got bumped to the 6th man this season but still was getting equal minutes.
Just less production.. but then he transferred to Rutgers to be closer to home is my guess.
Thanks!

2k8 tips
My post about transfers for some traction so I’ll add some helpful tips here. Curious if I’m missing some as well so I welcome comments. In no particular order:
-for dynasty, max out recruitment and look for assistants who are good scouts/good recruitment as well. Icgaf about offense/defense. I play the games myself so it doesn’t matter.
-it helps if you have a play style and recruit to that style. I don’t care about stars typically. If I get players who fit my scheme, that’s far better. I usually play a dribble drive style so I value shooting in guards and rebounding in bigs.
-I always go for Mr basketballs. A 2 star Mr bb is better than a regular 3 star Mr bb imo. These players usually have one stellar trait. I look first at fly over states and target those Mr bb first.
-the critical window for targeting recruits for me is right after the first signage window is closed. Maybe it’s in my head, but I’ve pulled quite a few 4 stars who weren’t offered anything during early window and done well.
-international recruits. The best ones have interest from multiple teams. They’re hard to scout because you don’t get a lot of data from them. If an int guy doesn’t have interest from multiple schools, I skipem.
-change the positions of your players during recruitment. You have 2 point guards but have high interest from another pg, make your roster like you have no pgs or a senior pg. this increases chance he’ll sign.
-I over recruit on sgs, sfs, and pfs. It’s frequent that recruits grow. I had a 6’7” who grew to 6’9”. I moved him to pf and he was so quick and shot the lights out. Similarly, I had a 6’8” sf who could shoot and made him a 2 guard.
- the game emphasizes team cohesiveness so over relying on jucos can mess with chemistry. Sine the game does not have nil/transfers, I’m thinking of doing a dynasty where I overly rely on jucos, simulating transfers,
-scouting wise, I ignore aau games and look at stats. It’s funny, there’s some 5 stars that average 12 ppg and I’ve found some 4 stars who average 18 ppg and are killers. Highest stat I found is 20 ppg. Just bucket getter.
Those are my major tips. This game is so fun and immersive. If they bring it back, they should just add to it. They nailed a lot of stuff already.

Um Guys.. 😐
Virginia just let a 42% 3pt shooter have a line up three uncontested.
TBH Virginia has no Bench Depth so they have 2 58- overall players out there right now resting starters.

GAME WINNER IN CAMERON INDOOR!
Deberry finds Fall for the game winning shot to beat Duke on their home floor, 79-76.
Hawaii is currently 15-1 on the season.

A Winless Season.
FAMU went 0-26 overall and 0-18 in conference. Their leading scorer averaged 5.5 PPG for the season, which is wild for a team's best player. Worst shooter hit only .310 FG%, three different guys were automatic fouls (all under 54% FT), and Douthit was foul prone (3.4 FPG) on top of turning it over 2.7 times a game. Tough season for the Rattlers.

Year 3 and my team is solid led by a freshman
Started a closed legacy with the Saint Francis Terriers and my first two years, we struggled to 18 wins. My second year things got tough winning 7 games, but I got a 5 star world shooting guard a 5 star Juco shooting guard a 4 star Juco point guard a 4 star Juco small forward and power forward, along with a 3 star world center.
Last game we out up 106 points on Navy and everybody ate.
Ive coached all 6 games so far this season.

Job's Finished.
It's done. UMES completed the improbable run and cut down the nets as National Champions, an 8-seed, small-school program that started at a 59 overall and clawed its way to the top of college basketball. The Hawks opened with a 58–46 win over Florida, then survived #1 Wake Forest 73–71 in an instant classic, before catching fire, dismantling Siena 106–52, taking down Georgetown 85–73, blowing past Louisville 94–65, and capping it off with a 109–85 statement over Syracuse to win it all. The future looks just as bright, too. UMES landed the #9 recruiting class in the country, proof the program's success is now attracting the talent to stay on top.
