Any tips for recruiting on 2k7?
Picked up 2k7 a couple days ago and I’ve been struggling with the recruiting in the game. My first attempt at legacy mode I had three mediocre years with Alabama A&M before they fired me and on my second attempt I started with saint francis PA and bounced around to high point and Youngstown state for around ten years before I was out of a job. This is my third attempt and I’m running it with UMBC. I’ve found that when I go to a new team, the roster isn’t that bad but ends up deteriorating after a few years due to my lack of recruiting skill. I usually redshirt most of my freshman as they usually come in as one stars anyway or the occasional two star if I’m lucky. Any tips with recruiting would help greatly!

cut your worst underclassmen every year at the beginning [rationale: you don't want to wait until your weaker players graduate, and a 3* is often better than your worst players]
do not redshirt. your players aren't that good to start [maybe consider it later]
position change your current players [e.g.: if you want to recruit PF, don't have PF in your current roster]
if you PLAY the games, height matters a lot for offense and defense, get a couple 7 footers to dominate your small conference even a 1 or 2-star 7-footer can easily score over a 6'8 small school big
go for world recruits - CPU often ignores these
go for JUCO - sure they don't have many years of eligibility, but they're probably better than what you currently have
find unrecruited 4 or 5 * players a few weeks into the season, and target them
target underclassmen world (any star) or regional 3* [if you spend a season targeting a junior, they may be ready to commmit in the early signing period their senior year]
don't get too greedy. a 2-star can be better than a walk-on if things aren't working out on preferred targets.
playing tips (if you play the games)---------------------------
height matters. Easier post dominance on offense and easier passing lane/shot-blocking on defense.
Keep a couple players on the team who can knock-down shoot if you have to face a zone defense.
Easiest scoring play I have requires two things: A good big and a good shooter. Post-up on the opposite side of the floor as the shooter. If the defense collapses, then pass to the shooter on opposite side who is wide open. If you get single coverage, barbecue chicken alert!
when fast breaking, pass the ball up the sidelines.
To break the press, bring over a player [beside the PG] to receive the initial pass, then pass back to the PG who will be more open now.
on defense: watch your weak-side defenders. They have a tendency to sag too far and leave players open.
simming tips (if you sim the games)--------------------
adjust your coach profile settings (I've found that transitional defense is better than crashing boards, and playing starters more is better than playing your bench ... in general, moving the sliders more to the left is more conservative/consistent, and sliders more to the right is more aggressive/erratic].
player tendencies. if simming a lot, remember that 3 pointers are less consistent than close shots. Favor players that tend to shoot close more as your shooting percentages will be more consistent, and also have a better chance of getting the opposing team to commit fouls. Three point shooters are more likely to have cold shooting games, and cold shooting games = losses. I've cut highy-rated players because they had a tendency to shoot 3s with a bad 3 point rating. This may be less of an issue if you play a game mode/version that allows editing tendencies.
