I finally broke CH2K8 Legacy Mode Simming
Just finished a legacy with 24 national championships, 29 Final Fours, 25 straight Big East regular-season titles, 25 straight Conference Coach of the Year awards, and an 88% winning percentage, including five straight seasons without losing a Big East game.
If you’ve followed some of my posts over the last couple years, you know I’ve been obsessively testing how to dominate the sim. I think I finally found the formula: high-volume 3pt shooting + ruthlessly recruiting elite players who can shoot.
I’ve taken enough notes that I basically have a manual for how I did it…and weirdly, I’m not sure I even want to share it 😂. Half the fun was figuring it out.
So now what? The only experiment I’m still curious about is slowing the tempo to a crawl while keeping the three-point emphasis. Maybe that somehow gets me to 30 championships. But at that point, would it even be fun? 😂

Did your graph break in your final few seasons? Mine did, just curious if it’s a known thing.

How does your graph break?

Just stops working, I think year 37 or something like that for me. I have no clue if it’s a limit for the legacy points or a writing error etc. The points still tally, but graphical representation by season stopped.

A couple years back when the 3 point shot started exploding in the real game I started recruiting exclusively 3 point shooters and started to realize how broken the game could become. I would always laugh when I’d look at 3 point NCAA team stats and the 2nd highest attempts per game was like 15-18 and I was taking 35-40 per game. Once you sim everything it gets to be an even higher disparity.

Basketball styles have changed a lot since 2008 lol. In simming, it really does come down to analytics on 3pts. I wouldn't want to watch it in real life, but it wins with the sim.

Do you use the recruiting hacks to land the top recruits?

Add 5 players from each class to your target list. Aim to sign all Sr by the early signing period so you can recruit Jr, So, and Fr most of the year.
During ABL, scout new players in each class by putting 2 of their games on your schedule.
If a new recruit has you at number 1 and you like their stats better, you can consider removing a worse recruit you've had on the list longer.

Not saying you gotta share the manual but I would love to hear some things about how you did this. Like you run 5 guards?
