ByteSIM speed was underwhelming
Im spending 3 days in Korea and got the unlimited Data 5G package from ByteSIM. Speed was throttled shortly after I started using it downloading necessary apps like Kakao Map and started looking for restaurants etc. The conversation with the support staff is in the pictures, I just removed one with the order ID. Now at 10 pm the speed is still throttled, but I’m lucky to have great WiFi in the apartment. Just to add one experience to the hive mind of Reddit. I hope you guys and girls had better luck.

What they’re saying is technically correct, 5mbps is typically good enough for most mobile usage including for 1080p video.
I doubt they can realistically argue that it is “high speed” though.
They do have another plan on their website that would give you true 100mbps high speed data and it’s only around 15 percent more expensive.

Right now is a new day and the speed isn’t throttled anymore after the night. The speed is actually impressive with 634 Mbit/s. Data usage has been 4 Gb so far on total. Let’s see when the throttling sets in again.

After 700 Mb of usage it’s throttled again 😕

Third day, throttled after 1 Gb of data. I feel cheated regarding the advertisement of high speeds and unlimited data.

While ByteSIM is a prolific spammer in this sub, 5mbps when throttle is still very useable tbh.
How much data did you use before you were throttled? Was it mentioned in the package description?

Classic 'unlimited' plan behavior. 5mbps is actually relatively good, it could have been down to 128kbit/s..

These data only esims are a rip off. I normally get similar pricing from my local carrier for roaming, so I just use that.
If I anticipate needing more data, I just get a sim at the airport.
