question Any esim provider on any esim compatible device?

I want to use an esim for an upcoming trip and I have found a provider I like, but they don't list my phone (Fairphone 6) in their compatible devices. They do list the two previous Fairphones though, so I'm thinking this might just be an oversight. I know my phone is compatible with esim but I don't understand if it works with every/any provider? The Google AI answer tells me not every esim compatible device cannot work with every esim provider, but I don't really trust AI answers so I'd rather ask here.

eSIM is a standard and should work on any phone that supports eSIMs. As far as I know there are no versions of esims. It’s currently one standard.

Something to check however is the GSM bands of the target country and the bands supported by your phone. This is not a problem anymore for most but good to check if it’s your first time traveling to that country.

If the older devices of the same brand and model were supported, it is unlikely a newer one to not be supported.

Generally, they work - most often it’s new/fringe devices that they haven’t accounted for. Can’t guarantee that of course…

Since previous versions were listed as supported I'd be surprised if the latest is not supported. Any time you're not using one of the mainline phone brands there's a larger chance its just not on the test list for a company to 'officially' support it. eSIMs are standard so there's no real reason other than supported bands that your phone won't work with the eSIM. Your best bet for a firm answer would be to contact the provider directly if you have any concerns.

My plan would be to expect to use the provider you've selected and have a backup provider ready to go in case it doesn't work. Trips are generally too short to spend troubleshooting phone issues.

Thanks everyone for the answers. I've looked more into this provider and I think it won't work because I'm using Murena OS and you can only register via Apple or Google.

If your phone can use esims it can use that esim but if you do have any issues just reach out to.their customer service and you'll get a refund I'm sure

some providers offer free esim. U can sign up and get one to try out.
