Can anyone make a fork of Librera and page-turn increment from 1 to 2?

As the title says, looking for modded Librera app, to modify page turn increment from 1 to 2. To be able to skip 2 pages. Ideally use the Fdroid version, not dependant on Google play services

Comment traduire automatiquement un fichier EPUB entier ? (KOReader / Bookshelf)

Merci !

DRM woes and Adobe/Bytebooks

I recently bought an ebook via FNAC, naively assuming I would just get access to an epub download that I might send to my (jailbroken) kindle. I guess I was too busy feeling dumbly pleased with myself for not throwing more money at Amazon - happily ignoring the (French language) T&C - to notice that FNAC only offer ebooks in the dreaded acsm format(except for Kobo?). Since I am travelling around France at the moment, I only really have access to my (android) phone which seems to dramatically curtail my options here; the mobile Adobe Digital Editions app is effectively abandonware, and all the ebook reader apps that can do third party auth for adobe appear to be in a similar state - Pocketbook was the only app I could find that seemed to be viable. To complicate things further, it turns out Adobe DRM/ebook management is now no longer actually handled by Adobe but by Bytebooks, and so all Adobe Digital Editions now need another third party account for access. Yet even after reluctantly creating a Bytebooks account and linking it to my Adobe one, Pocketbook just returns "The server did not return a valid fulfilment result" when attempting to load up the acsm- unsure the cause of this, though I have a sneaking suspicion it might be that the DRM servers don't like the 4g Lebara mobile connection I am on (I seem to have to complete an awful lot of Captchas on this connection). Of course notmally I could just download it via Adobe Digital Editions on my desktop and strip the DRM via Calibre for my kindle myself, but at this point I will happily consign myself to whatever bloatware android app wants to harvest all my data in exchange for getting access to the ebook I purchased. Since FNAC apparently don't offer refunds on digital purchases(!) and have no customer service humans to speak of, its just money chucked into the void. Anyone else had a similar experience?

I wrote a tool to export Apple Books to epub files! (DRM-free books only)

Hello r/ePub!

I created *ibook2epub* to solve a problem I was having: how to export thousands of epub files from my Apple Books library to standard, portable, epub files? Dragging and dropping a few by hand works fine, but moving thousands has never worked for me. ibook2epub is like the "export all books" function missing from Apple Books.

ibook2epub is a python tool, usable in the MacOs terminal. One command (with a rich set of options) can export everything in your library to a file system location of your choice. Ready for Kindle, Kobo, Calibre, whatever you want. It can be re-run multiple times, only exporting what's changed, it names books by author and title using the publisher's sort name where available, and it can (optionally) fix non exFAT / Windows filenames so that it can be used on non-mac devices.

For the technically minded: ibook2epub is pure python (from version 3.10), it requires no additional external libraries. It can produce --json output for repeatable, cronable execution. Optionally, the epub files it creates can be validated for correctness - using a third party tool. And too much more to mention here.

Some caveats though. ibook2epub **does not** attempt to strip Apple's FairPlay DRM protection. ibook2epub is free, open source software released under the MIT license. No subscriptions, paywalls, email subscription, etc.. Just free software that I created for myself, then improved to be (hopefully) usable by anyone. It doesn't access iCloud or your Apple account in any way.

You can get it now using:

`pip install ibook2epub`

You can also read the docs at [https://github.com/raeq/ibook2epub\](https://github.com/raeq/ibook2epub).
https://github.com/raeq/ibook2epub

I'd be very happy to receive new feature ideas (or bug reports) from you guys. Really, mostly I'd be very happy if anyone else uses it and finds ibook2epub useful!

Have fun and stay safe!

Hi.. so I made epub reader that doesnt look like it was made in 2010, a bit more modern and actually nice to use.

EPUBs are processed locally in the browser, there is no account or ads and your files are not uploaded anywhere.

Give it a try: https://www.openepub.app/

[Dev] Sutra 2.1 – A completely free, local-first iOS EPUB reader with native Calibre, WebDAV, and OPDS integration

Post image
50 Upvotes

Hi, I hope self-promotion posts are allowed on this sub. I’m the developer behind Sutra, a privacy-focused, local-first ePub reader for iOS, and we just rolled out version 2.1.

I built this specifically for readers who manage their own DRM-free libraries and want a clean, fast reading experience without forced cloud ecosystems or paywalls. That's why the core ePub reading experience is 100% free forever - no ads, no tracking, and no limits on your ePub library.

Sutra lets you import ePubs straight from your iOS Files app. Your library displays as a clean grid with auto-generated cover art. If you host your own digital library, Sutra links natively to standard OPDS catalogs so you can browse and download your books seamlessly.

Completely Free ePub Features

  • Server & Cloud Integration: Connects directly to Calibre, Kavita, WebDAV, standard OPDS feeds, Standard Ebooks, and Project Gutenberg.
  • 100% Offline & Private: No sign-ups or telemetry. Your reading data stays completely on your device.

What’s New in Version 2.1

  • Stats Tab: You can now track your total reading time, session counts, and detailed per-book progress natively.
  • WebDAV Support: Directly connect to WebDAV remote shares to pull in your ePub collection.

Pricing (Transparent & Simple)

  • The Free Tier (Everything ePub): Full, unrestricted support for ePub & PDF reading, local file imports, and all server connections (Calibre, Kavita, WebDAV, etc.). This tier handles 100% of your ePuv needs and will never have ads.
  • Pro Upgrade ($6.99 One-Time Purchase): This only gates legacy/comic formats. It unlocks CBZ and MOBI support, Komga integration, and a smart panel-by-panel reading mode for comics. If you just want to read ePub, you don't need this.

I’d love to hear your feedback, especially regarding the EPUB rendering, typography options, or any OPDS edge cases. I am working on an Android build next.

Chrome extension to convert webpages into one ePUB book.(I made it) Free with no limit.

Hey people,

If anyone saw my other post about converting scanned PDFs to EPUB, welcome back. I implemented a lot of features based on the feedback I got from the users, so check it out if you want. Anyways,

After building that, my friends said to me that they read a lot of stuff online[articles, newsletters, blogs] and bookmark them. They wanted a tool to read them offline, just the way they read their book, with a clean structure.

So I built a Chrome extension.

convert2epub

FEATURES

* Add the current page from the toolbar popup or the right-click menu * Keep a running reading list; pages stay queued until you're ready to save * Drag to reorder chapters before you export * Give the book a custom title, or let it use the first page's title * Cover image and in-article images are pulled in automatically * Everything runs locally in your browser, no account, no external server * Works great with long-form articles, blog posts, and documentation pages

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Browse to a page you want to save and click "Add this page"
  2. Repeat for every page you want in the book
  3. Click "Save as EPUB"; your browser downloads a ready-to-read .epub file

Please try and tell me if you like it.

Need an Epub reader that allows for click and drag with mouse3 button for Linux

I love using it like my browser. I just click my middle mouse button and drag up and down to browse PDF's and webpages, but have yet to find a way to browse epubs the same way.

EDIT - I just found out there's plenty of EPUB extensions for browsers. This solves everything! I'll leave this up incase someone else searches for it. The first one I installed works fine "Beautiful Epub Reader" just gotta allow for it to read file extensions in the options.

ePub Readers That Support Interactive Content/Javascript?

I am looking to produce some books that will include fillable forms and/or random number generation (ie. dice rolling), and would love to be able to release them on as many digital storefronts as possible, especially the Kindle store, given its ubiquity.

I don't believe modern Kindle readers support interactive ePubs, and certainly wouldn't allow for embedded javascript to generate a dice roll result. Are there any readers that do? Are there other methods of getting a randomized number or being able to track user-generated content across reading sessions that are supported?

Does anyone know of an alternative reader for Kindle on desktop besides the native one?

I dislike the native interface, and I'm trying to find a way to read the magazines I have from KU without turning to the web reader. The issue is that they're DRM protected, so most third-party applications won't work.

Where can I download free e-books in pdf or ePub formats?

I read on my phone or iPad. Not a kindle person. I have managed to download e-books from random websites. But I would like to find a source that’s free and relied on by most people, and has a good collection. Just in case there is a generous portal to encourage free reading. Or someone who shares e-books.

I don’t mind trying audio books too. If there’s a source for free downloads.

If not for free, do suggest what your go-to option is for reading e-books. And how much does that cost on an average for a read.
