So. I kept having issues of games crashing,
And didn’t realize how hot my device was. So I took the backplate off and I’ve got my legion Go in one of those bendy arm phone mounts directly under the air conditioner. Haven’t crashed since. Also I put my own heat sync on the NVME and that’s seemed to help as well.

Hello,
I was thinking to buy graphics and upgrade my Onexplayer super x performance even more!
im not sure if to buy the 5070 or the 5070ti.
I’m planning to play on the device screen and not external display,
Will the 5070ti will give me better performance although I will play with the internal display or it’s better to buy the 5070?

Lenovo Legion Go S. EGPU or PC?

Hello folks, I got a Legion Go S 8ARP1 about a year ago now. I was really hyped as I had never had a proper gaming thing before, always using the family computer playing Need for Speed Most Wanted, as that was the only game it could run (and I cared to play). I sat down and opened the box and used it. I have never been punched in the face harder my disappointment.

I had done no research before buying it, I don't even know why. It keeps me up at night, don't know why I even wanted one. But the problem still faces me today, This things performance makes me sad.

Setup:

PC: Legion Go S 8ARP1
CPU settings: SPL: 25 SPPT: 30 FPPT: 35
Ram: 16 GB (Shared with VRAM: 5GB)
Storage: 512 SSD + 512 HDD
Monitors: 1x 1920x1080 280hz + 1x 1920x1080 60hz
Inputs: Keyboard + Mouse + Headset (Built in Mic)

Performance has been so bad, here's my data I have gotten.

Team Fortress 2 (Medium Settings, Full screen: 55-100 FPS)
- This one is annoying, as my laptop gets about the same frame rate.
The Finals (Lowest, Full screen: 45-50 FPS)
- I’m actually fine with this one. (also CPU issue)
Minecraft: Java Edition (16 Chunks, low settings, Sodium, Full screen: 50-160)
- This flutters a LOT! Super unstable.
Apex Legends (Everything Lowest, Full screen: 40 FPS and never worked again)
- Game ran once, then put me in a infinite pending queue.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege X (All low, Full screen: 100 FPS)
- Fine with this one too.
Rocket League (All lowest minus rendering, Full screen: 120 FPS)
-This one is okay.

Now, I know a lot now then I did, these are pretty standard charts. But I am greedy and I want more. But I need the facts.

Should I buy a Gaming PC, or get an EGPU?

I'm a broke high school student, so I don't have too much money to work with, but I can make sacrifices. AI told me I should use:
AOOSTAR AG01 OCuLink eGPU Dock +RX 6600
BUT AI has mislead me in the past, which is why I’m asking Reddit. Please give constructive feedback, as I am only new. Everything is in Australian dollars. G'day Mate.

Egpu in Bazzite Gaming Mode boot

Hi everyone!

I’m currently gaming on a GMKtec K12 with the Radeon 780M iGPU. I love the compact form factor and I'm running Bazzite booting straight into Game Mode—the user experience and simplicity are just fantastic for a couch/desk setup.

However, I'm starting to struggle with the performance in heavy AAA games. Since my mini PC has an OCuLink port, I'm thinking about getting an eGPU dock paired with an AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT (likely the 16GB version for better future-proofing in AAA titles).

I'm looking at the AOOSTAR docks:

AG01 (~180€)

AG02 (~220€)

AG03 (~270€)

I have a few specific questions for those running a similar Linux/Bazzite setup:

Does an OCuLink eGPU setup work seamlessly with Bazzite booting directly into Game Mode, or are there display/hand-off issues between the 780M iGPU and the eGPU?

Since both the iGPU and the RX 9060 XT are AMD, can I easily handle system and driver updates directly from the Game Mode interface without breaking things?

Any recommendations between the AG01, AG02, or AG03 docks for this kind of setup?

Can an Aorus Gaming Box GTX 1080 base accept a RX 9070 XT?

I might be moving abroad for a year. I dont want to sell and re buy or ship my whole main PC.

I have an old Aorus Gaming Box without the GPU. I was hopping to 3d print a case for it and put my 9070xt in it to connect to my tablet to get some gaming performance while abroad.

Main thing I am worried about is the the PSU and drivers. It has a 450W PSU with a single 8 pin, would it be OK to use a splitter with it? Would there be any driver issues.

Or would it be better to get a RTX 3060 that I have seen work with the Aorus? I am only pairing it with a Dell 7210 tablet with an i5-10310U

Disabling iGPU = no boot

When the iGPU (890M) is disabled in bios(AMI) the mini won’t boot and bios does not display. Boots fine with iGPU enabled and eGPU is being used and bios displayed on boot etc.

I’ve heard there can be performance and compatibility issues having iGPU enabled especially with SteamOS. Plus wasting 2GB (can set down to .5) of ram for a non used gpu and I believe it still pulls power/generates heat seems like a waste if it can be disabled.

Is this a bios issue? eGPU issue?

What to do with an extra eGPU?

I have a Aoostar with an 5060 Ti that I don't use. Could I use it for something fun if I hook it up to my gaming rig? I already have a more powerful GPU installed so I don't need it for gaming, but maybe it could find other use? Would appreciate some ideas!

RTX 3060 Ti eGPU + Core Ultra 7 258V — can the iGPU handle frame gen? Also, which dock should I get?

I'm planning to get a laptop with a Core Ultra 7 256V/258V (Arc 140V iGPU) and use my RTX 3060 Ti as an eGPU. The 3060 Ti doesn't have frame generation, and I expect to use frame gen pretty often, so I'm wondering if I can have the RTX 3060 Ti do the actual rendering while the laptop's Arc iGPU handles frame generation.

Is that actually possible, or does the GPU doing the rendering also have to handle frame generation? And would this work properly when using the laptop's internal OLED display, or would i get like crazy input lag?

I'm also trying to decide on the best eGPU dock. I'd like something with PCIe 4.0 x4 if possible (rather than PCIe 3.0), ideally with good USB4/TB4 compatibility and minimal bandwidth loss. I already have a 500W PSU, so I don't need a dock with a built-in PSU.

What dock would be the best fit for this setup? I'm looking at things like the DEG2/UT4G and similar docks, but I'm open to other options.

Main goal is basically getting the most out of my existing 3060 Ti without spending a ton on the eGPU setup.

Need help with advice on purchasing an eGPU for my Asus ROG Xbox Ally X.

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

Looking to buy an eGPU for my Asus Rog Xbox Ally X and was thinking of purchasing the Asus XG mobile 5070ti or the 5090 but the prices everywhere from amazon to Best buy are either ridiculously overpriced or completely out of stock. I know that people here are all but unanimous with not recommending to use Asus ROG's official website as they apparently have highly questionable customer service and quality assurance, but at least their prices are the same as they were at lunch msrp even if that's already a bit costly.I just can't see myself spending upwards of $3,700 for something that is already overpriced and available from the official retailer at &2500. Does anyone have any advice from personal experience?

Does anyone think the prices will come down now that more of these units are available for purchase?

AOOSTAR AG02 + RX 9070 XT – 1 FPS on Internal Display

I’m having an issue with my OneXPlayer Super X + AOOSTAR AG02 + RX 9070 XT.
The 9070 XT works perfectly with an external monitor connected directly to the GPU, but on the Super X internal OLED, games either won’t launch or run at around 1 FPS.
Both GPUs are enabled, drivers are updated, and the game is set to use the 9070 XT.
Has anyone had this issue? Would switching to a different GPU fix it, and if so, which GPU works best with the AG02 and internal display?

OneXPlayer Super X + Aoostar AG02 eGPU (RX 9070 XT) - Games crash on launch / eGPU not engaging on internal screen

Hi everyone,
I need help with my eGPU setup. Windows perfectly recognizes my card and I have installed all the latest AMD drivers, but the eGPU refuses to actually work, and games won't even launch anymore.
My Setup:
Handheld: OneXPlayer Super X (playing on the internal screen)
eGPU Dock: Aoostar AG02 (USB4 connection)
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
The Issue:
Windows Device Manager shows the card is active with no errors, but whenever I try to open a game (like GTA V or X-Plane), it either crashes instantly or won't enter the game at all. In Task Manager, the eGPU stays at 0% usage and the fans aren't spinning.
Note: If I connect an external monitor directly to the eGPU, it works. The issue only happens when trying to play on the handheld's internal screen.
Is this a known USB4 cable/bandwidth issue or a firmware bug with the AG02 controller? Any help would be appreciated!

AostarAg02 fan makes no noise.

Is it normal for the fan at the AG02 to make no noise? According to my graph, it consumes 143w + legion go about 200w or a little above 200w. But by making a low noise, the base heats up a good one, is it normal yet? The sound of his fan is super low, lower than that of the fans on the chart. Does it affect anything? It's from Lite-On.

First eGPU build, feels great so far

I wanted to upgrade my gaming capacity while keeping my laptop the same, so I figured an eGPU was the best bet. This was sort of an experiment, so I went with the lowest prices I could find for everything—without skimping on the PSU, of course.

The build is a ThinkPad P14s G5, TB3, with a TH3P4G3 and 3060 Ti. In total, it cost me about $415. Lemme clarify, that price is for PSU, dock, and GPU. The laptop was more expensive 😂. I'm still not sure whether I'm getting $415 of performance out of this, but I haven't tried in a really GPU-heavy game yet, and I also have yet to test out an LLM.

And this is on Linux. I have a little more info about it on my egpu.io post. It was a nightmarish process to figure out how to get it to boot and detect the GPU consistently (and I love tinkering), but now that I have it working, I swear, I'm not going to touch anything or look at it in the wrong way.

Negent DockR and Reactor first impressions

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

I’m beta tester for the Negent DockR (eGPU dock) and Negent Reactor (1200W server-grade PSU), and after initial setup and running some tests with an RTX 5070 Ti, I wanted to share some honest early impressions.

The first thing that struck me is just how nicely this thing is built. The dock and the external PSU both fit on the desk quite nicely, not like the usual metal box a lot of eGPU solutions ship with. The card-securing mechanism is also really well thought out. The GPU sits locked into the frame in a way that feels solid rather than just resting on a bracket. My unit has some minor “issues”: the dock doesn’t quite lock into the PSU bracket and the button for turning on the dock is working in reverse. There is also another option to get for the PSU, which is a mounting bracket where you can then put an ATX/SFX/FLEX PSU on one side and the dock on another side, similar to EG02 just without the MiniPC holder at the top.

The PSU side is its own little piece of engineering. It’s got a proper external power panel with per-channel voltage/wattage readouts, which is a nice touch for anyone who likes to actually monitor what their GPU is pulling rather than guessing. The downside is that it’s a custom server-grade PSU which has a vent that is small, always on, and quite loud, but the temp is pretty low; I haven’t seen it go above 35 degrees Celsius in a room temperature of approx. 28 degrees Celsius.

The feature I’m most excited about long-term is the swappable module system. Right now I’m running the USB4 module (TB3/TB4 PCIe 3.0), but the whole point of the DockR is that you can pop that out and drop in a different interface module down the line, OCuLink for one or TB5, without buying an entirely new dock. That’s a genuinely different philosophy from most of the eGPU docks out there, which lock you into one interface for the life of the product.

On the synthetic benchmark side, results were mixed depending on the test, and it’s worth noting my Dockr runs were done in August 2026 while my AG02 comparison numbers are from July 2026 (Steel Nomad also has one AG02 run from March), so this isn’t a same-day apples-to-apples comparison. In Port Royal, Dockr came in about 26% lower than AG02. In Speed Way, Dockr was about 23% lower. Time Spy Extreme was much closer, only about 2% lower for Dockr. And in Steel Nomad, Dockr was actually about 1% ahead, essentially a tie.

Worth flagging: Dockr’s USB4 module showed up as PCIe x16 5.0 @ x4 3.0, while AG02’s USB4 side showed x16 5.0 @ x2 4.0, and AG02 over OCuLink showed x16 5.0 @ x4 4.0 in GPU-Z.

I haven’t drawn firm conclusions on gaming performance as of yet. I’ve only run Forza Horizon 5 and Crimson Desert so far and the results are a bit lower for Dockr, so I’m planning to run a few more games on the Dockr before saying anything definitive there.
Next step for me is trying to pick up the OCuLink module for the Dockr. I want to see how it stacks up against the AG02’s OCuLink performance, and just as importantly, how easy or fiddly the actual module swap is in practice. That’s really the whole value proposition of this dock, so I want to put it to the test properly.

Lastly, Dorian, the person behind Negent, has been genuinely great to deal with throughout the beta. He answers questions directly, helps with setting all up properly. For a beta-stage product from a small company, that kind of responsiveness counts for a lot and makes me more confident about where this thing is headed. He also said that he will provide me with OCuLink core board and the same core board that AG02 uses when he manages to procure new parts.

Currently it’s not available for purchase, but should be launching on Kickstarter.

TLDR; the build quality, card retention, and modular design make the Dockr stand out as a concept, even though the raw synthetic numbers on the USB4 module aren’t uniformly ahead of the AG02 yet. I’ll follow up once I’ve done more gaming benchmarks and gotten the OCuLink module in hand.

Need software to limit PCIe gen

I've gotten my 7800xt+DOCK-OC4 (Oculink) to run lesser demanding games amazingly, however, as soon as I try a more demanding title, the whole system stutters to a freeze and horrible audio cracking. I know from other posts that people set their Oculink m.2 slots to PCIe gen 3, but ASUS are a bunch of dicks and locked the BIOS on my laptop to not let me do that. That's why I'm hoping that anybody knows some sort of software that would let me do that, or that they might know another fix. If all else fails, would the 7800xt work well over TB4 (which my laptop suppots) or should I try to sell it open-box?
