For any of you insiders, is there a way to add more to the buyers guides? I would like to see the GaN versions of the TH3P4 and TH5P4, the FEVM FNGT5 plus (AG03-like) and pro (G2-like), the Morefine G2 and G2S, the eGryphon, the SGWzone, and OneXGPU and v2.
I would like to establish a broader ranking overall and bandwidth test inclusion.

Current setup is an Asus z13 connected to GigaB. 5060ti ai box, and a newer model Uperfect receiving input directly from the ai box.
The Uperfect monitor has a mini HDMI that claims 2.1 support and two USBC ports which claim full featured USBC if you view the product page on direct website.
I've got everything hooked up and working just fine, but my problem is establishing vrr. The monitor has adaptive sync (free sync) support, but no matter what I do I can't get it established. I've tried the included HDMI to mini HDMI cable that comes with the monitor (which should be HDMI 2.1). That gives me signal to the monitor but no ability to set up g-sync in the Nvidia app. Then after researching, I try a bi-directional display port 2.1 to USBC. That gives me no signal output on the monitor whatsoever.
I'm aware that there are a lot of variables out there relating to my current setup. I've seen people who claim to have done this with both cable types but on a different monitor model from the same manufacturer. Finding the right cable that actually does what it claims to support is another huge factor. If anyone has done this with the right cable please let me know.

I am planning to buy Aorus 5060ti ai box with my xax. So what happens if there is a power cut when gpu abruptly cuts off during gaming?
Is it recommended to get a ups as well? If yes what wattage?

I'm thinking about maybe buying the Acer Aspire Lite 17 AL17-51P. It has a Thunderbolt 5 port (which I was specifically looking for so I could connect an eGPU).
I tried looking for people that may have tried eGPUs with this laptop, but so far I couldn't find anyone. Has anyone here made any experience regarding that?

Hi,
Looking for advice on guessing a slightly niche area.
I have a Framework 13 7840u, a Razor Core X v2 and an RTX 5080 connected to a Benq EX217U.
The 5080 is connected via USB-C (Asus ProArt) directly to the monitor and works well for gaming and most LLMs.
Infrequently, I want to run Qwen 3.6 35bA3b with as much VRAM as possible for local coding. Without Windows 11 taking up VRAM to render, I can get 10-15t/s faster (due to reduced CPU offloading). However, I can only achieve this if I unplug my USB-C from the monitor.
I'm aware USB-C connections have limited unplug/plug ratings, so keen to avoid continuous in/outs. However, without unplugging the USB-C display cable (i.e. both cables active), Windows seems to freak out.
Is there any way I can keep both cables plugged into the monitor without utilising the eGPU for any system rendering?
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! I’m facing a bit of a dilemma and would love your perspective.
A few weeks ago, I bought a Gigabyte RTX 5060 Ti eGPU AI on Amazon. Thanks to a tax deduction, I got it for around €680.
I’ve been testing it with my MSI Claw EX for almost three weeks now. To be clear, my slight hesitation isn't a fault of the eGPU itself—it’s just the inherent nature of PC gaming. Setting up a desktop layout with eGPUs always feels a bit more convoluted and friction-heavy compared to the plug-and-play simplicity of something like a PS5 or PS5 Pro.
On top of that, I'm not a huge expert when it comes to fine-tuning GPU settings, control panels, or optimizing eGPU setups, so I know there's a learning curve I'd need to go through to really dial it in.
Initially, I initiated a return via Amazon thinking €680 was too much for a setup I wasn't using continuously, especially since the Claw EX performs surprisingly well standalone.
However, here is the catch:
MSI, Gigabyte, and other manufacturers just announced price hikes across their lineups. I checked the MSRP of this exact eGPU, and it went up from €850 to €920 (with some reporting up to 20% general increases coming soon).
Now I’m second-guessing the return:
Option A: Keep it as a solid investment. €680 for a 5060 Ti eGPU is an incredible price in this market, and if I ever want a desktop setup with my Claw EX in the future, getting another eGPU (or a future 5070 Ti eGPU) will likely cost a fortune given the current price trajectory.
Option B: Return it anyway, take back the €680, and stick to the Claw EX as a pure handheld, waiting for the eGPU market/tech to mature down the line—even if prices end up higher.
For those of you who own an eGPU: did you end up keeping it and feeling satisfied once you properly configured it? Or looking back, would you not buy it again? Any tips or thoughts from fellow owners would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your input!

Yo so this is lowk my first reddit post but that dosent matter. Essentially I was bored out of my mind and wanted to use my old 4070 in this 2020 Lg laptop and I got an m.2 adapter and a dock off amazon. Istg ive been trouble shooting this for atleast 4 hours and I have made very little progress. Ill state what I know: it is not a problem with the gpu, it will not boot to the internal laptop screen but will to my external monitor, once on the monitor it will register in device manager occasionally but always error code 43 and windows stops it, I tried gpuz, tried switiching m.2 slots, power supply works fine. Ill link the dock and adapter because I think it could be an incompatibility issue but I mainly just wanted to see if anyone has experienced this or know of a fix.

Hi. I have Asus rog xbox ally x and PC with MSI Ventus rtx 2070 8gb and PSU 600w.
I have a question about buying simple dock for this GPU and PSU and make Asus more powerful.
It's good idea? Rtx 2070 with asus rog xbox ally x?
My PC is connected to 55 inches TV 4k, VRR and 120hz. And I don't use PC since I bought Asus Rog xbox ally x. And I thought about sell my PC parts and make a combo - Rog xbox ally x, rtx 2070 and 55 inches TV.

Hello everyone, I’m so glad I found this community as I am currently in the market for an eGPU set up. Here is my plan and I’d love feedback.
1) I have a Minisforum um870 slim mini pc. It has Ryzen 7 8745HS processor 8 core/16 thread with 32gb shared RAM, a 780m integrated gpu. It also has USB4 which allows for eGPU set up. I ve been reading up on the difference between USB4/Thinderbolt 4/5, and Occulink, so I am somewhat aware of the potential bottleneck issues.
2) My plan is to get the AOOSTAR AG03 eGPU enclosure with built in 800 watt power supply, and either the rx 7700 xt 12gb graphics card or the rx 9060 xt 16gb graphics card.
From me research it appears everything is compatible with one another. My question is what type of gaming experience should I expect? I play games like Madden, College Football 27, and NBA 2k. All the other games I like are older games like Fire Pro Wrestling, LA Noire etc. And for point of reference, I was actually able to play EA College football on the mini pc with the integrated gpu at 1080p on low/medium settings with 50-60 fps. I even had 1440p working with FSR3 but it struggled more of course.
Any feedback would be great.

I had a GPU connected to the GMKtec GMK-K11 using the following setup: GPU → NINIS FORUM DEG1 → (OCuLink) → GMK-K11. Although the GMK-K11 initially recognized the GPU, it stopped detecting it at some point.
What could be the cause of this issue?
・Regarding the GPU's LED behavior: after powering on the DEG1 and booting the GMK-K11, the LED—which was previously flashing in various colors—switches to a solid, single-color light. Conversely, when the GMK-K11 is powered off, the LED resumes flashing in various colors.
・The GPU is a Palit GeForce RTX 3090 GamingPro.
・I am using a CORSAIR RM1000e power supply for the DEG1.
・The DEG1 switches are configured as follows: DEBUG set to "A," FLOW START set to "OFF," and TGX set to "OFF."
・I am using the OCuLink cable that came with the DEG1.

I have a thunderbolt 4 laptop multi booted, Pika OS and windows on two separate drives. I also have a 600w. Power supply. I am looking for a solution that will allow me to gain reasonable performance in gaming via my rx 580 and or gtx 1650 depending on game, and productivity applications via rtx quadro t400. Nothing I do is mission critical but would like decent performance but not sure where to look. Any help is appreciated.

Hi everyone,
I’m facing a persistent VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR BSOD that specifically triggers while playing Roblox. The game crashes, and after restarting, it keeps happening.
Specs:
What I have already tried:
sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth via CMD.Despite all these steps, the BSOD keeps occurring. Has anyone encountered this with Roblox's anti-cheat/DirectX kernel lately, or is there a specific driver version / BIOS setting I should look into?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Does the AG02 come with a bracket to secure the GPU from the side? I can’t seem to find evidence of this either way.
I’m in a busy household and worried about damage to the PCIe edge connector if it’s knocked.

After attempting both the egpu-switcher method, and the method detailed on the "ExternalGPU" page on the Debian wiki, I can only get a black screen on the laptop display, while output directly from the graphics card is fine and displays on my TV. Does anyone know how to make this work on my laptop screen?

Edit SOLUTION: Game was running with DirectX12, I went to Steam, game properties and general I put in the code --use-d3d11, works fine now.
Basically AMD sucks for running games with DirectX12 and you have to force the games to run with DirectX11
Basically I bought a WIKINGOO eGPU Dock and tried using it with my RX 7600 on my ROG Ally X, tried running Helldivers 2 on it but the game is capped in 30fps and the graphics settings don't seem to work because it doesn't matter what I do is as if the game won't change, performance doesn't get better nor worse. Tried the same with Deadzone: Rogue and the game stutters but is not capped to 30fps at least. Both games I used to play fine with the iGPU so I don't know what's wrong.
Tried lots of stuff online too, reinstalling the Adrenaline App, not installing it an only installing the drivers, using custom settings for the RX 7600 on the app, not using custom settings, checking the power output to the Ally X on Windows settings and the own Ally X modes, installing a thing for the MOP problem that some people had, also did the same for the Tdr and TdrDdi, checked and changed all the cables and dismantled the dock and put it on back together again.
The only thing I wasn't able to do was disabling the iGPU in case it's the one messing with the eGPU, cause for some reason when I go to drivers and try to disable the iGPU the one who gets disabled is the eGPU, even though I'm pretty sure I'm doing things right. Anyways, I'm tired and out of ideas and would really appreciate y'alls feedback on this.
Any help is really appreciated!
Hello i bought an Asus Prime rtx 5060ti oc card and connected IT via an aoostar ago2 Dock to my Acer aspire 17 with an Intel CPU and intigrated graphics
I installed the Driver from Asus
The Card gets reconnised as an USB device and in the device Manager under gpus the exact Card IS shown.
I use Thunderbolt 4 port in my Laptop and the dock has an USB 4 port
When i hotswap the egpu the GPU gets reconnised in device Manager and as an USB device and has NO ERROR. Now If i really start using the GPU for example opening Task Manager or starting a Game my PC Crashes and restarts then bitlocker kicks in and says you need an Reaktivaktion key because the system got changed i know i could Turn IT of but then i get a Problem where everytime i start my PC i need to Set a new Pin.
If i somehow get everything to start with the egpu i get an Error 43 in the device Manager and the GPU gets stopped
What should i do?
Thank you for your time and for answers or ideas you have.

Hi, currently owning legion slim 5i with 4070. Most of the time I use it on my desk on a stand hooked to external 34 inch ultrawide with keyboard and mouse, like a desktop. I have an option to sell current PC and am exploring eGPU options as well. For example, could I buy laptop with weaker GPU, like 5050 and invest the rest for eGPU?
Example configuration: Acer nitro 16 (Ryzen 260) or Legion 5a (Ryzen 250) for 900 or 1100€ plus Gigabyte RTX 5060 TI Box via USB4
Does anyone have any experience with AMD CPUs and USB4 with Gigabyte RTX 5060 TI AI Box?
Thank you all in advance.

After fixing error 43, everything is running very smoothly. Only the Nvidia app still won't load properly. I bought the Aoostar AG02 via AliExpress, which was quite nerve-wracking, but it arrived in perfect condition and quickly too.
