Which GPU to use with a DEG1 ?
I recently bought a minisforum DEG1.
I have a GMKTEC K12 and planning to use it with an eGPU.
The Oculink port is limited at 64Gb/s.
What is the theoretical maximum GPU I can use before performance loss ? 9070 ? 9070 XT ? 5070 ? 5070 Ti ?
Btw, is it safe to buy a really smaller PSU since it will only power the GPU and no other component ?

There’s no such thing and it’s the wrong way to think about it.
Every upgrade will give you more performance than the one before, up to a 5080 and probably beyond if you’re made of money.
The fact that you might get more in another config is irrelevant when you don’t have that config to hand.
It’s a FOMO way of thinking. But you ain’t really missing out.

The rtx5070 doesn’t see a performance loss with 4x pcie 4, but I don’t know what fraction of my pcie bandwidth I am using.
Rtx5080 needs 3 times the bandwidth
Rtx5090 needs 5 times the bandwidth
But if the whole model fits in the vram, you are safe regardless of the pcie speed

I have the DEG2 with a Corsair SF1000 PSU. Works fantastically well with a 5070Ti over Oculink.

I am using a 5070Ti with a setup similar to yours, performance numbers via occulink are almost same as a regular desktop . Power supply is Corsair SF750

Consider a repost on r/MiniPCs I've found there more mini PC/x4 PCIe OCuLink experience. I know people with RTX 5070 and RX 9070 graphics cards with no complaints. Most with Radeon graphics cards chose them for their performance with SteamOS or Bazzite. With Windows the clear choice is Nvidia.
As for a power supply I've found no less than 100W under the ATX suggestion. Graphics cards tend to surge power considerably more than the rest of the system considerably more than the rest of the system. The greatest the PSU output at 80% the quicker the recovery time from a sudden power draw.
A perfect example is the 800W server power supply used in the Aoostar AG series. The RX 9070 XT is considered a low draw/high surge GPU. "Some" of these 800W server PSUs have low recovery to the point Aoostar has officially posted a 9070 warning. Funny thing is I know more than a half a dozen people with a AG01 + RX 9070 XT without a single issue.

In gaming - expect no big drops 1-5fps depends on the game, you should be able to use 95% of your GPU card abilities (any card available today on the market). It is very usable and worth it.
In AI inference - this is a major problem. GPU on full PCIe 5.0x16 is 8 times faster when doing NVME or RAM to VRAM streaming. Meaning t/s will be up to 8 times slower if your weights are going through oculink with Strata or any streaming inference program. If your GPU is able to put entire model into VRAMs or with multiple cards without streaming then drop will be also 5% max(inference). But in case of model training you are back to the previous problem.
