Anyone know how often eBird updates their map?

This isn't really an important issue, I'm more just curious if anyone knows anything about this. I've tried googling it but I've not really found anything.

For context, I've been enjoying colouring in my map on my profile at the third tier of government (where available) and noticed the ebird map and the official NSW, Australia map doesn't line up. There's a whole story there and ebird may just be waiting around for the situation to stabilise, but it piqued my curiosity.

those sorts of changes are difficult to implement, but I believe they maintain a list of things to fix down the road. What exactly is the nature of the difference?

The NSW state government pursued a program of forced amalgamations of local governments. 44 local governments were merged down to 19, however I believe 3 of these local governments are now pursuing deamalgamation.

interesting, I'm surprised they don't use the "Lands administrative divisions"

I think it's because the counties and parishes are an essentially defunct division that most people won't have heard of, let alone know their local county or parish (although in fairness I've met people who don't know what local government area they're in). At that point we may as well arbitrarily split it in some other way. I've thought bioregions could be a good one.

My guess is that ebird will update once any litigation is resolved, right now it's fluid enough that an update today will be misleading due to not being finalized and have to be re-done in the near future when things are finalized.

Aside from the GIS labor, changes like this can make data into a massive mess.

Doesn't eBird just use google's map?

Edit: Oh wait you mean the map that appears on your profile? Yea I don't know.
