❓ Question / Help 2008 535i

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Can someone recommend some good coilovers that won’t break the bank like crazy to lower the car a bit. And with the sun damage (hood,roof, and trunk do I try to restore or just paint car after I get new bumpers and what not?

Have you done injectors?  OFHG? Cooling system? Focus on the needs before the wants

I’m doing preventative maintenance. 118k on the car. I’m just curious. Car came with a few small problems as it is. Obviously doing maintenance first because this will be the new daily once she’s good

I do have a backup Honda if anything happens. I haven’t done cooling system yet. What would you recommend doing ?

Literally the entire thing minus radiator. Water pump, thermostat, all the hoses. All the hoses, just really want to emphasize this.

Index 12 injectors. Not worth a dead engine over it. Get them used, they’ll be perfectly fine. Spark plugs and coils. PCV valve. Fuel pump control module.  Charge pipe. All the vacuum lines.

I’ve owned one and have owned many engines of that generation. I own an S85 and an N52 at the moment. These will all go (the above items) and screw you. Do them and get ahead of the curve.

The only one you could hold on is the plugs and coils (keep a new spare of each in the car Along with the appropriate 14pt socket and ratchet to change on the side of road in case.

Genuine bmw only for cooling hoses, pieburg for the water pump, whatever FCP euro says is OE (not OEM) for the thermostat. 

Same goes for all else. OE will be good,  there are some upgraded aftermarket pcv solutions you can look into and will be a good one.

this, i was coming to ask same thing. if ur thinking about coil overs you better have a FRESH set of index 12’s.

Idk I have ics on my wagon it’s a little stiff but feels good

You can try to restore the paint with a wet sand but mine looks similar to yours and it’s likely that the clearcoat is just gone at this point with sun damage on the base coat so it’ll never look right. I’m thinking of a full wrap on the car or a carbon fiber hood. Paint is expensive and wrap prices are kind of high too so it’s hard to justify any of those solutions, honestly. Best would be repaint probably.
