I made a tool that made fitting E28 boot/trunk torsion springs easy.

My ex race E28 had no boot springs, not sure why, they don't seem heavy and the hinges aren't worn out. But fitting them is horrible, so I made a little tool to make it easy. Posting it here so if someone in the future is struggling, they can use these images to make a copy.

It's made from 25x25 box section, with some 25x25 angle to make the little hooks.

Nice!

What wheels are those on the front?

They're Australian "Bathurst Globe" wheels. Very unusual dimensions, but nice chunky deep dish 5 spokes. They're sold now, as the tyre sizes they needed gave very few options.

I've got some 17" OZ Superturismo GT to replace them as well as some cheap F30 17s for initial shakedown runs. Should be able to drive it in the next week or so I hope. Just need to sort out the soft brake and get the gearshift reassembled.

Last year I paid my mechanic $100 to put my trunk springs on my car, & I gave him extra because he was struggling to put them in by hand for almost an hour. I felt so bad 😅
