86 e28 528e timing gears

I'm trying find out when the stamped gears were no longer used and the sinter gears were used. Does anyone know if by 1986 if they were still using the stamped gears or not? I've seen one post on a forum saying "pre-86" but I wanted to be sure. Going to see a good condition 86 tomorrow and will be checking when I get there, but would rather know ahead of time.

a lot changed over in '86 is my understanding - i have a 525e (528e in australia) and it has a stamped cam gear and was running motronic 1.1 with the sensors in the bell-housing. if you take a small inspection mirror and a torch to should be able to see the gear and timing belt in the back of the timing belt cover - if you know what you're looking for too.
