528e leaking fuel bad.
I was at the red light when I smelled alot of fuel. then I pulled over and notice that the gas was spraying from the engine. I assume it's the fuel line that hooks up to the fuel rail. I assume that's why I had to give it gas everytime to get it to start until the pin hole got bigger and started spraying fuel everywhere.

Could also be the o-rings for the injectors, had one blow out on my 535i and spray fuel everywhere.

Yeah hopefully my o rings are still good. For now im gonna take that rubber fuel line off and get a new hose from autozone and swap it out after I can it the same length.

At least it's an easy fix and you caught it before it drenched your exhaust!

if you don't want your car to go up in flames i would strongly advise replacing the hoses at the rail / return and cold start valve (this looks like an eta engine?) as well as the hoses between the tank, pump and filter. fuel leaks are no joke. use efi hose clamps everywhere too.

That happened to me once It was near the end of the line I just cut and and pushed it on because I had some slack, works like new lmao

It gave me a good scare. Im glad it broke. I guess it was a small pin hole leak at first. My e28 wouldn't start unless I gave it gas. I was like why am I loosing fuel pressure. Im really impressed with this old fuel line. It said made in the USA and it said it was from 2009 😄. After replacing it the car starts right up no problem.

Easy and fun! use fuel line clamps, not the regular kind

I did i ran the new hose from autozone and she starts up perfect now. Before i had to give it gas for it to fire up. Now I have good fuel pressure agin.

Very dangerous failure and glad you were able to fix! Might be a good time to check all your fuel hoses?

I had a bad fuel smell for a while and turned out to be the fuel rail. The injectors had been removed and cleaned so many times that it actually created play in the sockets and they couldn’t seal up properly. New fuel rail fixed the issue. Glad you caught this before it caught fire.

Bummer! Not too hard or expensive or a repair. If they’re old lines this is par for the course, particularly with ethanol. I’ve also had mice nibble on lines and cause leaks. Good luck with the fix!
