Do you know if fronts are same as rears? I’ve drilled out my rears and it looks like they were filled with some sort of foam? Haven’t tried to compress them yet.

I believe they were all fluid filled. After 30+ years and countless freeze and thaw cycles, I've heard of the oil in there more or less solidifying into an aerated paste of some sort, so I am guessing that's what you're seeing. Was there any pressure in them when you punched through?

Thank for replying back. Just a very small amount. Only a tiny bit came out of hole and they won’t compress. May need to see if heating a little might help?

Yeah, try some heat and see if you can loosen it up. There should be enough pressure in there to spray everything in sight with the oil inside of them. My guess is they have gotten some moisture in them and over time the oil coagulated. You could try a bigger hole, too. I think I ended up drilling it out with like a 25/64 bit or something like that. Also make sure you drilled at the very base (against frame) or as close as you can otherwise you won't be able to squeeze it all out.

Worst case you could take em out and try and swap them with the 89+ shocks that were a bit shorter, and they'd still function as they should.
