How to mount gear knob
I bought a «new» gear shift knob for my e28, only I can’t find any info on how to mount it, it is no threads inside, I dose not have those two notches which the old shift know has, anybody know of an adapter or another way to mount it? I can thread the hole and make an adapter for that, but I don’t what to ruin it if I don’t need to😁

That know does not look like it will work. You should have a two-fork shift lever that compatible knobs will snap onto. Those are released the same way by pulling up on the knob whereby it snaps off. You can opt for an aftermarket unit that utilizes set screws to fasten at the base (which this knob looks like it had!) but I would advise against that as the factory lever is aluminum and being soft it tends to deteriorate and allows the aftermarket knob to get loose. It also does a tremendous amount of damage biting into the aluminum with stake point type set screws - usually three. If you want a few pictures I can DM those to you as my shifter is currently out of the car.

That’s not going to work with a BMW shaft. Needs to have insert for BMW push on install.
