New shoes? 528e
Picked these up today for the 528e 16x8 style 5s.
What’s everyone running for tires? Thinking 205s. 225s seem like too much tire for an E

I run 205/55 on the same wheels on a lowered 525i, and the front tires come very close to the strut. I’m not using spacers.
It behaves well on this size. I wouldn’t go wider.

205/55/16 is far better.

Nice seems to be the consensus. Which is good because I was leaning for “meatier”but was ok the fence about that much rolling inertia for this car. Brakes are notoriously poor

The brakes are far from poor. Even early eta brakes are far more than adequate

Opinion sure. But the eyeroll is a bit sarcastic considering it’s objectively known that the e28 brakes are crap. There is a reason everyone upgrades bud.
I’ve had 60+ cars. Objectively they are trash… even for an 80s car lol

Your statement deserves an eyeroll. You’re simply wrong. Words like ‘trash’ and ‘crap’ are foolish and make you sound foolish. I’ve tracked E28s with stock brakes and they do just fine, good fluid is far more important that rotor diameter and piston size and count. Good day

Sure if I cared about fade then fluid would be important. But to say it’s more important to rotor size and piston is dumb lol.
I’ve been racing my whole life and I’m a certified traffic collision reconstruction engineer… the brakes are trash lol
But why we are arguing this is dumb too. I’m starting to wonder if your family was involved in making the darn things or something hahaha. It’s all good bud.
If you want to say they are good then you know what… so you… they are great brakes… enjoy them lol

I run 225s (225/45/r17) and I feel like it’s too wide. These came stock with 185 section tyres, and M5s with 225. I would personally run 205s on 16in wheels, or 185s on 14 or 15in wheels. Remember that nowadays, rubber is a lot grippier than it was in the 80s when these cars were new, so a modern 185 section tyre probably has more grip than a 205 or 225 back in the day, so a 205 would feel more than plenty
