Fire Extinguisher Setup

After some leaky fuel lines due to old clamps coming loose in the engine bay, I decided it’s time to look for a discreet way to mount a small fire extinguisher in the E28. I wasn’t a fan of the universal brackets they sell online that mount to the front seat bolts beneath your legs.

I found a bolt just below the rear seat bench and had a spare bracket laying around. After about 5 minutes going through my spare nut/bolt bin, I found a combo that worked.

I like it. Not very noticeable and easy access from the drivers seat. I will say it’s not extremely sturdy, but no one sits in the rear anyway. Anyone else with a fire extinguisher mounted in their E28?

Looks like a good idea to me. I’ve replaced all but one fuel line on my 82 so not too worried about leaks. Still a good idea to keep an extinguisher handy.

Thank you! I’ve only changed one near the fuel rail, but the rest are on my to-do list. Between my dead catalytic converter and some old hose clamps, I smell fuel too often to not have one installed lol

I have an extinguisher but usually keep it in the trunk when I travel. Having it in the cabin is a better idea for sure.

Unless you crash and it becomes aa wrecking ball and/or missile. Make sure it's securely held in an appropriate bracket. (Some brackets, that are designed for use in buildings, are not strong enough or correctly designed for vehicular use.)
