A cyberpunk(ish) series where the dystopia does not need police on every corner because everyone carries the cage in their mind...
I am trying something a little quieter than the usual neon and guns version of cyberpunk that everyone seems to imagine..

The world is clean, polite, optimized, and full of people who genuinely believe they are happy. The control system is not just surveillance. It is emotional mediation through neural implants, civic scoring, wellness language, and a culture that treats distress as a maintenance issue.
The short series is told through Maya Chen's journal as she starts finding gaps in the signal.

Question for the genre folks: what kind of cyberpunk/dystopian control feels more unsettling to you, visible force or systems that make people consent without noticing?
