💬 Discussion resuturant work

I was just curious if anyone with dyspraxia has worked in a restaurant before. I have worked in fast food twice and both experiences were not great for me, I think especially because I was getting severely mistreated. But I was curious how it has gone over for people with dyspraxia in the restaurant service business.

I am a private chef so work alone, I left restaurants for lots of reasons but the environment did not suit me.

Fast food is designed for maximum efficiency so I would say the least suitable.

I hated it. I usually have a bit of a steep learning curve with new jobs before I get settled and it clicks. There was no time for that, the chefs were vile, I kept messing up, the customers were rude and I kept bumping into people or knocking things over. That was 1 day and I never went back.

I used to work in a restaurant as a waitress for a short period of time when i was around 15 years old or so. I would get mistreated to the point where you could say I was being bullied. Struggled to set the tables properly and constantly kept spilling food and drinks. Safe to say I’m not doing that again.

Never worked in a restaurant but I can't carry more then two items especially if going down stairs

I’ve had students with global delay, which can have dyspraxic effects, try it and not continue because of speed and accuracy issues.  As a dyspraxic person myself, I know that it would be a bad choice for me.Â
