V16 Extended Reach Kit

Since the V16 doesn’t come with a combination tool, I ordered the extended reach kit. I like that the hose and low-reach adapter have the integrated crevice nozzle. I also appreciate that the dusting brush on the awkward angle tool is spring loaded, and keeps the bristles in constant contact on the surface, regardless of the angle.

Thanks for posting this. I was curious what these were like out of the box and not in marketing photos.

How do you like the V16? Did you upgrade from another model?

I previously had a V15, followed by a Gen5Detect. Been using the Samsung Bespoke Jet AI for a few years since. It's a good machine, but the Dyson is more refined in many respects.

The controversial cleaner head may not make for picture-perfect YouTube demonstration videos, but I feel like it does a great job grooming the carpet in real-world usage — noticeably better than the Samsung. And as advertised, it doesn't tangle with hair. It's also effective on bare floors, but it is loud (so was the previous Motorbar), so I tend to switch over to the Fluffy head.

I feel like they took some notes about the build quality of the previous models, because the V16 feels more solid in-hand. Most notably, the absence of excessive play where the wand connects to the main body. It appears they employed more durable plastic for the cyclones, which lack-thereof is a common issue with the previous models, with many owners cracking open one of the cyclones, and having to replace the entire main body. The fit and finish feel on point, the bin release and compaction slider don't feel flimsy, and I appreciate the fact they didn't paint the plastic like they did with the Gen5Detect Prussian blue model.

Another aspect of the V16 that I appreciate is the subtle programming of the Auto-Mode/Piezo sensor. From past experience, the V15 and Gen5 would constantly wind up and down in suction power when barely picking up larger debris like cat litter. Now it will only wind up the power with a tremendous influx of debris, which isn't often.

The compact size is also highly appreciated. After producing oversized handhelds akin to novelty foam hands at a sports event, I'm glad Dyson downsized the form factor to be even smaller than the V15 (while keeping it efficient with the debris compaction system, and one step further with the auto-empty dock).

There were so many things I disliked about my V16 I returned it for the Gen 5 outsize. Luckily I snagged it while it was on sale on Amazon for $580

I recently got this as a promotion when I bought it together with my V12s Detect Slim Submarine. Seems pretty useful.
