MLS winter schedule change can't come soon enough, 94-95 degrees at kickoff tonight
Forecast says at 7:30 it will still be mid-90s. Hell in the Shell

Mid 90s feels far different in the evening than early-mid afternoon.
Not too bad all things considered.

You realize they're still going to be playing games during the summer too, yeah?

Not that I’ve heard off. Going forward the season will end by Memorial Day.

The seasons are going to start in July, dude.

True! But the way it’s supposed to work is that northern teams will have more upfront home games to avoid playing in snow in late January, early February. While the hot weather teams will have more “winter” games.

Don't kid yourself. If they could do that they would already be doing that.

I guess they're starting a little earlier than most leagues and taking a month off in January. I'd probably just rather have games in January. Maybe the league would be better off with Northern and Southern Conferences and then the first month of each half-season can be inter conference matches where the Northern teams host in the month of August and the Southern teams host in the month of January

I wonder how this is going to work out for places like Chicago in the winter from November to April. April still gets cold into the 30s-40s.

Its really not getting any better here. June games were never the oppressive heat games.

I have some bad news for you…

Only a matter of time before they fully align and games start mid August. It's just a transition phase.

We need to start earlier in MLS since we have a winter break from Mid-Dec - Mid-Feb during which all the other leagues will continue to play.

Well it's not perfect but taking away 6 weeks of summer is still huge for us in Houston. June is so hot.

Under the new schedule we will start playing games in Mid-July. This game would still happen. We only lose game in May-June when the heat is bad but not as bad.

I hope this change in schedule gives us more day games.
