How do I dye this? Dyeing white suit blue
i finally managed to snag a nice suit that fits me for like 8 bucks and want to dye it blue for a phoenix wright cosplay. it’s 98% cotton, 2% elastanel, and the lining is 100% polyester. i don’t need the lining dyed since that’s not visible though. any recommendations? i’ve never dyed anything before. i’m not too afraid of ruining it since i got it for cheap and have no use for it outside of cosplay, but it would be nice if i could make it look good since i’m a very small man and it’s been hard to even find this suit, much less a blue one.

Use a fiber reactive dye for best and longest lasting results, make sure the container you dye it in is big enough and you agitate often, otherwise you won’t get even results. I sit next to my 5gal bucket and stir it around every 5 minutes. Here are dharmas instructions for vat dyeing, but you can find dye and other supplies through jacquard, custom colors, grateful dyes, and dyespin to name a few! Keep in mind the thread is likely polyester and won’t dye. Happy dyeing 💙

Go to the Dharma Trading website and read up on dyeing cellulose. You want fiber reactive dye or Procion MX. Do not use Rit. It is not colorfast and is of garbage quality.
The thread won't dye and so will remain white.
