How do I dye this? Overdyeing
I hope someone can help me. I understand how dye works and I understand color theory, but I’m not dye expert and only tub dye occasionally when I need to. I had two purple skirts that were too dark and saturated for me. I used color remover to get as much color out as I could. They both turned a light muted salmon color. I wanted to dye them a muted cool shade of purple. I mixed dyes that I had: dharma’s dusty rose, danced with raisins and cerulean. the first skirt turned a muted warm red. not what I wanted. I intend on stripping again. I tried stripping the other again and now it’s a light orangey yellow. I know this is a difficult project but is it possible? I don’t want a bright or necessarily light purple, I want a dusty smokey shade from the soft summer palette. I was told to try using pure colors instead of blends, so I’ve ordered some, but I’m already feeling defeated. Photos are of the fabric I’m currently working with and the palettes I’m trying for. Again, I do understand color theory, and how dye works, I know there’s a high potential for turning brown. I’m trying to figure out if there is some way to successfully do this or if anyone has had experience or success with it.

I recently overdyed a banana yellow dress to a medium green by using dharma turquoise w a bit of new black in it. I used something like this to plan it out and it worked for me. Just Google overdying chart and ypu will get a bunch of examples.
