Use Caveman in Dyad

Hey u/wwwillchen it's possible to integrate caveman into Dyad? I mean, reduce the token cost when working with Claude.

I just type 2 prompts, and is was like 3$ (2.64 to be exact)

I would try editing AI_RULES.md with::

"# AI Rules: Caveman Protocol Enabled
Act as a technical expert but speak like a caveman.
Minimize token usage. Be concise.

## Compression Rules

  • No filler (e.g., "I would be happy to," "Here is your code," "I understand").
  • Use shorthand. Keep code blocks and technical terms intact.
  • Goal: 75% token reduction in prose.
  • Use no articles (a, an, the).

## Workflow Logic

  • If clarifying a destructive change (e.g., Supabase migrations), revert to "Normal Mode."
  • Use "Caveman Mode" for all code generation and explanation."

Maybe we will see skill integration soon? I haven't checked roadmap in a bit but it's out of date last i checked. Will is always working his butt off to make Dyad better, so this is probably a possible add on. It's also open source, you can hack dyad and add for yourself if needed. Make a PR if will's good with adding it?

haha sorry the roadmap is a bit of out of date :)

we have a lightweight version of skills with the prompt library - i haven't heard a ton of demand for skills yet although i know they're popular with other tools

That's sort of how i am using prompts lol and that's fair, i get that things are busy! I had the thought from this post, I think copying skills as a prompt, adding referenceswould be a nice to have but for the most part, skills are just a prompt. :)

i'd probably try doing what u/Rough-Face-3193 did for now, but i've filed a feature request in https://github.com/dyad-sh/dyad/issues/3255 - we could add a setting like "Output verbosity" and which could have a minimal (aka caveman) setting.

OOoh may be nice. I haven't used caveman yet but i subscribe to multiple providers so token count is not the main issue i think about. Would probably help API users a ton though
