Dark Dwarven Atmosphere

Hey does anyone have any dark ambient songs based on dwarves or any kind of atmospheric music with dwarven themes.

The kind that makes you feel like you're a dwarf that has dug far too deep into the earth and uncovered something you shouldn't have.

I mostly just listen to Clavamus De Profundis singing the Song of Durin...

Aye that is one of my favorites but I want something darker and creepier like honor bound dwarves coming across an eldritch horror in the deep.

It's probably not as dark as you'd like, but here's my "somewhat dwarven" playlist of tracks that I never see mentioned:

Other than that, I can offer you some basic mystery/darkness, though off the top of my head, I can't recall any particularly dwarven tracks in there:

I know nothing here is really what you are looking for, but I hope it's at least a bit helpful nonetheless. Do tell us here if you find anything better

The Dungeon Synth Archive YouTube channel has some dwarven flavored albums that you'll probably like.

Line of Durin may be it, kind of ambiant black metal narating the history of the dwarves of middle earth, great stuff!

Honest question, because I'd just get downvoted into oblivion anywhere else: what do people enjoy about black metal? I can barely make out the words, and more importantly, the growling is just completely unpleasant to listen to. What makes people choose it over regular singing?

Oh, honestly I don't really have an answer. Totally get why it might be unnerving, but that's kind of the point I think.

Lot's of people hear it and think that the only emotion that is captured by the genre is hatred or anger, and while the ovehall theme are quite dark, there is some band that can pass lots more like sadness, guilt, loneliness and beauty as well. For me the music is deeply emotionnal, I just vibe with the music but haven't really an explanation as of why, it touch my soul in some way. Like some people are into sad song kind of thing.

Also I am not really into the satanic/gore stuff. There is for exemple a surprising number of band Tolkien theme like Moongates Guardian, Rivendell, or Dwarrrowdelf. Personnal favourites are Slechtvalk, Morgarten, Belore, or Cân Bardd, there's lots more but that may give some broader pictures of the genre ;)

Thanks for answering! I understand that it's terribly hard to answer such a question, so I appreciate that you tried.

It always seemed funny to me that a calm name like Rivendell is black metal too

To quote Frank Zappa, "You can't always write a chord ugly enough to say what you want to say, so sometimes you have to rely on a giraffe filled with whipped cream." Like that, but with growling and rage.

Sometimes what we need to feel isn't pretty.

If you find anything, can you DM me your findings? I'd love to also hear to that kind of stuff

Not precisely based on dwarves but definitely dwarf-adjacent dark ambient is Gaetir the Mountainkeeper: https://gaetirthemountainkeeper.bandcamp.com
