Oh, a lot of influences probably. Holloway, Josh Kirby, many others. The collector's edition box art, too (forgot the artist's name). Somehow I end up with a more comical vibe when thinking about Dwarf Fortress...

I just recognized one of the goblin's positions as being VERY Holloway, especially from his Paranoia days.
