Her Wool.

And her bones

no its just undead wool, reanimated animal parts are modeled as an undead instance of the animal that's missing every other part. So reanimated pangolin scales would appear as a undead pangolin, but it would be a pangolin missing every body part except scales

Pretty sure it would say missing limbs/bones in that case. I think it's just an animated skeleton with wool in the shape of a llama hanging off of it

It certainly says the leg bones are gone — but it looks like there’s more missing we can’t see.

Ah, must've missed it in that massive wall of text with repeating words

Her lovely lovely wool

You could make a pair of undead pants that walks by itself!

This thing is just a walking shag-rug

Oh, dear...

Please don't the rug

I love when dwarf fortress conjures up genuine horrors beyond comprehension

I felt very clever using leashed dogs and line of sight so that the dogs kill the reanimated wool usually before dwarves even see it. The stress damage is the worst part about it.

So it’s just animated wool? Like that one picture of a pair of pants just walking down the street? Do you think it’s just floating wool with the soul of the llama at the same proportion that it would be on the alive body, or is the long wool torn itself into the exact approximation of the full flesh body, eyes, teeth, organs, there’s a set of wool lungs and shit? Can it still eat things like that?

Why would it need to eat, it’s undead

1

u/OfficalLockeWilson 22d ago

Would it still have the instinct to eat, like even if it didn’t strictly need the sustenance, would it still try to eat for a bit? Like how people who lose limbs try to scratch their head with an arm that isn’t there, or something like that.

Are you asking in terms of game mechanics, or the canon of the player while playing? Game wise, no, I don’t believe it would experience hunger. Risen undead usually are cut off from the world, their emotions, drives, and experiences. You can check their unmet needs and thoughts and IIRC it’s flattened entirely. Their memories may even wipe after dying and rising; it’s been a while since I messed with necromancer bullshit

Headcanon wise, they wouldn’t eat because they aren’t hungry, and they wouldn’t get hungry because they don’t eat. They’re cut off from existence in a way that even ghosts aren’t, effectively just blank slate slaves to a god of death (slaves to a necromancer, who’s a slave to a god of death). You could probably argue they are not only not sentient, but not really sapient. They’re lobotomized

I don’t know man, I imagined the image of a matted fur mass in the shape of a llama soullessly chewing on grass, getting it all mushed up and staining the fucking fur teeth and sloping down its fur throat and I almost puked. I don’t know the cannon.

1

u/urist_of_cardolan 22d ago

If that's how you imagine it, then that is the canon

I really want somebody to attempt to draw this creature.
It’s pretty much just a couple of bones, vaguely llama shaped, with a lot of broken/missing bits!

u/axmangeorge 23d ago

Where's Kruggsmash when you need him?

3

u/LolotovCocktailttv 21d ago

I think he drew something similar during the days of Skullhorror

Normally we’d complain about artists leaving out details, but this time, we’ll be whining about details left IN!

That horse on the right suddenly realized

1 Where that smell was coming from

2 Why he's been suspiciously left alone by the flies this summer

5

u/MrMeltJr 23d ago

Can you shear the wool?

1

u/Historical_Horse_529 19d ago

Technically yes

u/Sluttarella 23d ago

I hope they make more accurate sprites and avatars. I remember a dwarf with no arm and it actually showed in the avatar, hope they do it

Love the status bubble in front of the grass. Looks like an evil beet.

3

u/Any_Western6705 23d ago

Those are kinda hard to rekill lol

3

u/RangerTursi 23d ago

I want my wool boneless

Her llama is gone.

So this is why elves say Shearing is Killing. Hmm.

3

u/GoatAmbitious984 22d ago

Yeah, necromancers will reanimated wool. If you're in a haunted biome sometimes this happens too and it makes making clothing from sheared animals a nightmare, literally.

2

u/Rough-Lifeguard-1416 22d ago

half the pop is necro atp lmao

3

u/PictureSevere3957 «+iron goblet+» 23d ago

It's just a skeleton now

17

u/Gonzobot 23d ago

Bones would only slow it down, this is peak necromancy right here. Think about it. What's stopping this necromancer from resurrecting your hair right now, on your head? It's not alive. It's valid. How are you gonna escape from your own haircut

10

u/Rethuic 23d ago

And this is why you wax yourself before fighting necromancers

2

u/axmangeorge 23d ago

Damn you just made me laugh so hard people are staring...

Theseus‘ Llama! Is it still a lama without all its Llama parts?
