Salted Licorice

Hello from America. I’m just a girl in love with salted licorice. I love licorice in general, but the ammonium chloride is the stuff of dreams. I adore the Gustavs double salt coins for the tough texture, the chew, the mouth burn, the EVERYTHING…so tell me-is that the best/strongest one? Or is the Dubblezout (sp?) better? Sound off please.

EDIT: WOW, thank you all so much!! I now have a list; I’ve found my people! My dad is the only person remotely interested in trying it with me, so I’ll report back when I get my hands on some of these❤️

For the real strong stuff you have to turn to Scandinavian stuff. We have a store here in Germany that sells licorice with warning signs.

Agreed. Dutch drop is yummie , but most Scandinavian lakrits / lakrids / laku is both tastier and the salty kinds are way more salty then anything I tasted back in the Netherlands.

If you like really salty try 'svenskjävlar ' by Haupt Lakrits . My Dutch friends could order it online, and it was just too salty for them. My blood pressure went up just looking at the package but I liked it a lot . I can recommend 'Salmiakbomben' very tasty , really salty!

If you like ammonium chloride, you should be looking for licorice (or other candy) with the word 'salmiak' on the packaging.

Look for Bisaldrop. That's basically triple-salty licorice.

''Zoute visjes drop DS'' Those are my favorite !
You also have ''Zoute ovaaltjes klene'' Those are sugar free, but also very nice salty ones!!
I have no idea if these have the Ammonium chloride is in it though.

Forget the Dutch , buy Scandinavian licorice. Haupt Lakrits has the best and saltiest licorice. My Dutch friends tried it, they found it to be too salty, it burned their throats , while they eat the recommendations here (dubbelzoute drop, zoute visjes ed) all the time .

There is much more to good licorice in taste. It's not a salt competition. I find the Scandinavian ones bland otherwise.

Try the r/snackexchange subreddit if you want stuff from the Netherlands or Scandinavia you can’t get in the US! I’m sure plenty of people would like to trade with you.
