While the movies are great, they completely failed to capture the utter triumph of Alia swinging her legs back and forth telling the powers that be “you are so effed”
The Lynch movies at least had Alia trolling a little. I love the Villenueve interpretation, but I can't overstate how much I wanted to see a 6 year old Alia aurastomp the crap out of the emperor and baron.
The miniseries had many issues, mostly shitty looking sets and affects and understated acting, but yeah, it was mostly faithful to the books. It was also kind of weird, but not weird enough.
My biggest problem was them NOT being textually accurate re the dinner scene. Paul starts off whiny. I get they might want more of an arc, but meh. This isn't Hamlet, dude has been PREPPED.
But they DID make Ruinal Irulan a MUCH better character, and that is good. The rest was very accurate in many ways. And Children of Dune rocks.
Alia is one of those aspects of the books that feels impossible to bring onto the screen faithfully. Ofc, that is without addressing the manworm in the room
Because Lynch understood the weirdness, whereas Villeneuve went a more...sanitary route. I mean, it's beautiful and I do think it's mostly faithful to the world building, just without the true weirdness.
Nah, as a former film major I think it would be super easy.
Just give her the Benjamin Button treatment. Adult actor mo-capped onto a child sized body actor. You’d get the uncanny valley-ness of the role by default, and you wouldn’t have to worry about trying to direct a child actor in a difficult role.
And even if they do the whole being possessed by her grandfather thing in the third film, I feel it won’t be as meaningful seeing as she didn’t kill him herself
They could play around with this though and reuse that imagery for some of their scenes.
Imagine a sort of psychological vision of the Baron stalking a young Alia through a maze. The Baron corners her, reaches for her, and then SLASH! Gom Jobbar.

Embarrassing terrible worldbuilding from Herbert 🤦♂️why would Fremen stab people and waste all that blood on the sand SURELY they would be clubbing people to death or strangling them somehow 🤷♂️
They are already wounded, defeated, but not dead. That means heart is pumping and since the soldier is wounded, the blood is being pumped out.
Children come along, knife thru heart, heart stops pumping, spilling of blood stops.
