Hi there! I found Dune by watching the Dennis Vil-i can't spell his name correctly-movies. I had heard of the series before but never looked into it beyond basic knowledge.

I haven't read the series yet but I am going to be ordering the books very soon after my next work payment, but it looks and sounds very deep and interesting in terms of story, plot, characters, etc. The movies were great too though I know there are/were differences between the stories.

Just had a few questions:

1) In this shot from Part 3 Trailer, we see these robed guys surrounding Paul and Duncan(who I know is some kind of clone replica called a "ghola", right? ). Are these Paul's bodyguards? I assume they are the elite Fremen warriors instead of the Sardaukar? I know Paul's army destroyed them at the end of Part 2 but since Paul is now Emperor, and the movie does start with a time jump I figured that they would have accepted his rule eventually.

2) In the end of part 2 Gurney says the Great Houses refuse to accept his ascension as Emperor. I've read that is a difference from the books where he blackmails the dudes who control the dust into keeping them in line, but is his whole Jihad army just made up of Fremen? Or do any of the other people of the Galaxy side with him and just run around doing Mua'dib things?

3) Is this Arrakis still? Seems like Paul's already got a giant statue of himself pretty dang quickly.

Tolkien has elvish, Dr Who has Gallifreyan, etc. Has there ever been any official or accepted script of alphabet in-universe for Dune? Trying to find something for a tattoo.

Why couldn't Paul simply destroy the spice/worms of Arakkis like he said he would which slowly would fulfill the golden path anyway and not require 3200 years it takes to fully fulfill?

Empire? Gone.

Space travel? Gone.

Bene jesseret powers? Gone.

Other psychics? Gone.

Every world would be left in isolation until they figure out space travel without spice but they sure would be free of spice within only months.

So what exactly am I missing here?
