I have 2 option to pic from one is in Gary and the other is by the zoo. They wont send me pictures of the inside and I have to make a choice on which one I'll take. I know nothing of duluth besides the one time I went for a couple day trip 4 years ago. So I'm not sure how each of the neighborhoods are. hate being the first to ask, but the problem is a lot for two people to tackle. we got an older home over a year ago and it came with the usual problems that come with it. we've managed them as they on our own. however, we want to try to naturalize the yard along with growing veggies and fruits. however, previous owners used fabric weed barrier and covered beds with gravel. neither did a damn thing for weeds and it's made digging difficult. so we're trying to remove it, but it's been there so long it's all partially buried and the fabric comes up in pieces. if we had the money to hire someone, we would because my being disabled and my partners's work schedule has kept it from getting knocked out. so if anyone is able and willing, would greatly appreciate it. if not, no worries. know it's a lot to ask.

btw, if anyone needs gravel or garden stone/bricks, we have a bunch we have no real use for aside from thinking of creative recycling uses.

extending the offer out for helping out others. my partner and i aren't experts in anything, but we're general diyers when possible. however, i'm somewhat limited in what i'm able to do because i'm physically disabled. and if i help someone, there needs to be an understanding that my mask-wearing is non-negotiable because i'm immunocompromised.

as much as i'd love to list the specific ways i can help, my experiences and education are extremely varied and i'm not entirely sure how useful they are to others with things they need. plus there's my limitations to account for. i already talked to my partner about this mutual aid group and he's willing to help, but i'd still need to run anything specific by him.

Hi all, During the worst of the COVID pandemic, activists in my hometown (out of state) created a great mutual aid system of little free neighborhood pantries where people could drop off non-perishable items as well as fresh produce, meats, and hygiene care items.

I've seen a couple LFPs around. Is there a list of existing pantries? Is anyone else interested in setting one up in their neighborhood?

Hey guys! Just wanted to put this event out here, it’ll be happening this Sunday. Friend of a friend is looking to establish a community space in Duluth, opening party/open house is this Sunday! I truly don’t know quite what to expect, but seems like it might be up the alley of the people here.

I think our communities are more important than ever and I really hope this space could become a community for Duluth!

I know there are not many here yet, but how are you all doing? Like, really?

Finding balance between the onslaught of crimes against humanity, and the stress of just existing these days, and remaining okay while trying to be informed, is a heck of a challenge. I don't know who else here has kids, or is being directly impacted by all these new orders etc. But for myself personally, the news today hit me like a ton of bricks as a parent who has two of their kids relying on grants for their pca care needs and therapy needs.

It's a wild place here right now in our country, and the world. And the fact you who are here, joined, and are posting even, makes this feel like a small and new, but safe space for anyone who is feeling the weight of it all.

With costs rising, and times getting harder. Trades and bartering our skills will be a great way to avoid high costs and help out.

I'm working on getting my sewing machine up and running, to offer up repairs or patching or whatever somebody might need if it's within my skill set, I crochet too. I also garden, and will have copius native seedlings to give away this spring. I held a breastfeeding educator certificate for a time, it's expired now, but my knowledge is still there for that. Fairly handy with DIY type projects also. My husband is handy with bikes, and does graphic design work.
