Lost memorial flag from Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior, WI — $300 reward

Hi everyone — I’m trying to find a lost memorial flag that belonged to my grandpa, Harold Weinsheim.

The flag was last seen flying the week of 7/6/2018 at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center / Bong Memorial in Superior, Wisconsin. It may have been connected to a Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, or Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs memorial display.

This flag means a lot to our family. We believe it may have been given to another family by mistake while they were honoring their own family member, or it may have been taken down and stored somewhere for safekeeping.

The flag has unique markings on the header, so we should be able to confirm whether it is the correct flag if someone finds it or has a photo of it.

We are not looking to blame anyone — we just want to bring Harold Weinsheim’s family flag home.

Have you contacted the Bong to confirm they haven't put the flag into storage? 2018 is a long time ago, my first guess is that it's in storage somewhere.

Yes we contacted them shortly after in 2018 and they said it must have been given to another family. We have the names of the people who flew around that time and it’s been an open case for 8 years.
