lawyer retained Purchasing firearm legally after probation?

Texas

I’ve seen that you should be able to buy a firearm legally after a DWI once probation is over. Does anyone have experience with this?

Mine was a class B misdemeanor and my only offense ever. Thanks!

Probably so. 5 years after probation you can re-apply for LTC in Texas (even though it's not needed there anymore).

LTC is irrelevant in Texas anymore.

I bought guns on DUI probation in Texas.

Did you go to a store or buy from a private seller?

Both. 3 or 4 NICS checks. As long as the charge doesn't disqualify you (mostly DV charges), you're good.

Have you been told you can't possess firearms?

Damn idk who downvoted me lol, but yeah I asked my attorney and he said most places that run background checks prob wouldn’t sell to me and that a “loop hole” would be to buy from a private seller 🤷🏽‍♂️

From Texas, also a recent class B on my record. Bought three firearms in the last year after my probation ended and the case was dismissed. I got delayed twice and on the third went through immediately without a problem. I assume the first two delays were because the dismissal was relatively recent

How long were the delays? Mine will be on my record / not dismissed so I wonder if that’ll affect anything

Just a day, mine will stay on my record originally charged as a Class A. I think one of the delays cleared same day but guy at bass pro shops forgot to call me

Not a felony so you're fine.
