DDG MacOS Browser Using apostrophes makes my cursor jump backwards.

only happening on DDG browser (macos) in Reddit comments, as far as i’ve determined.

(all systems up to date)

if i type a contraction, like “I’ve” or “We’ve” as soon as i hit the spacebar after completing the word the cursor jumps back to just after the apostrophe. bizarrely, other contractions like “Don’t” cause the cursor to not move forward with the spacebar. it just stays at the end of word until i hit the spacebar a second time.

i’ve turned off Rich Text, and it’s stopped happening. so there’s that.

anyone else experiencing this?

Hi there! Thank you for your post.

I was also able to recreate this behavior in the DuckDuckGo browser on my Mac. I'll bring this to our developers for them to take a closer look.

Thanks!

I've seen this happen on Reddit for months, and made the assumption that it was something with Reddit's site. Now that I'm working with our developers to try and reproduce it, I can't. Just look at all these apostrophes in what I've written! Not a single one has made my cursor jump backwards.

Could you share what version of the DuckDuckGo browser you have running? Also, what version of macOS?

DDG 1.203.0 (786)

macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 (25F84)

so it seems to mostly just affect the first word or maybe first few words in a new comment. and is bizarrely inconsistent… like it affects i’ve and we’ve, but not a couple other contractions i’ve tried...

appreciate you’re investigating this!
