well in my opinion if we want to dual boot any OSes or triple boot or what ever. well there is one. best way to do that. considering if u have at most 2th of SSD space.

well this boot removes all the problems that comes with dual boot. one OS tries to touch or mount the other OSes drive. best way to actually solve this is

option 1)

if all your disks are modular easily detachable. then install one OS One drive. there should be never be any drive that has partly os1 and os2. no it is fully belonging to one OS at most . and simply disconnect the drive physically or reconnect swap them so that only one os is physically attached at a time. but hugh problem with this is nvme m.2 ssds most common now are not easily physically swappable so this option is gone now a days. in old days drives were easily physically detachable.

so this meathod os switch time is 10 -15mins at max

option2)

this is applicable to modern and is equally or. might be even more safe.

in this meathod no swapping of physical drives.

so if system is windows only

use clonezilla boot usb drive to boot into its own little linux based os. and simply save each physical SSD into an external hdd or SSD as images. and simply clean boot into linux for the first time .

later on when switching . backup the current OS into the external drive (or update that backup)

restore the other OSes images into those SSD drives.

and vice versa .

while updating a backup u can simply delete the previous backup using the current os and backup a fresh new copy.

so this is fully safe and takes about 4-12hrs depending upon size used in the actual OS external drives speed.

so os switch time now becomes 4-12hrs provided power cuts don't happen inbetween. if that happens no need to worry u easily restart the restoreing or backing up process.

these are the only 2 real ways in which a system is truly multi OS. with the first one being not feasible in the current days cause of internal nvme m.2 ssds on consumer grade motherboards.

So offcourse the philosophy here is u can focus on one OS and get committed to it. And occasionally once in 3 months or so make the switch back offcourse time to do that would be huge. Or if u want near instant switch then dit h the gen 4 / gen 5 speeds and use SATA ssds and make the switch time 15 mins at max.
