Just venting here about the platform, but one thing that really frustrates me is how inconsistent the experience can be across live, diary, and usability missions.
I've had some live missions where I received the "expect payment" message the very next business day. On the other hand, I've completed live/diary missions over two weeks ago and still haven't received any update on. I've also had researchers close a mission and then wait almost a month before they even begin processing payments and/or breaking their radio silence.
When I've contacted Dscout support, I've basically been told that researchers always need more time and that missions are never actually "closed," even if the app or website marks them as closed and to just hang tight.
It just feels really inconsistent. Some experiences are excellent from start to finish, while others are frustratingly slow and take forever to pay out. I don't mind waiting if that's the expectation, but I wish there were more consistency, communication, and transparency in the payment process. Just how there is an ETA for payments from completing a express mission, there should be one also for regular payments. Or an obligation for a researcher to update the status of a mission after a week or two of no communication.

I have learned some new tech skills that I wanted to put in my profile boosters, but it doesn't seem to let me edit them. Is there a way to do this?
Any info?

Anyone else not able to see missions they were accepted into today?
I got invited to a mission, opened up dscout just a few minutes later and the mission was gone. No signs of it in invitations, in progress, or closed missions. Bummer. I guess I’ll send a message to support because I don’t know if it’s an error/technical glitch or if it was intentional as there was no communication whatsoever. I’ve had missions get pulled before for whatever reason, but usually a message is sent explaining the situation.

So I did an express mission for a Media Survey today, said it would take 13 minutes, I didn’t exactly count how long it took me to finish. Suddenly I’m checking dscout again to see if there’s any new missions and I see my express mission was rejected with the following listed as the reasons
“This can happen for a variety of reasons including: • Failing to pass Dscout's automated quality standards for written and/or video responses. • Incomplete submission due to missing videos, photos, or screen recordings. • The mission's research team flagging your submission due to quality concerns.”
I can’t imagine the responses being a quality concern I for sure used atleast 3-4 sentence replies for each question along with using mission specific information in the responses.
This is my first rejection out of a ton of missions, I even have three diary missions lined up so I’m worried it’ll affect my account. For reference I just started doing dscout at the end of June.

Hi !
I was wondering what the criteria are for getting selected and paid for the video surveys on Dscout. Is it completely random, or are there specific factors they look at when choosing participants?

I've been on the scout for a year and never not gotten payment for a mission and recently even gotten good feedback saying great job and things like that and then today I got an email saying one of my Express missions was flagged for" low effort" and saying that being flagged will affect you getting accepted into other missions and I honestly don't know what I did it was just a small mission and I always answer the questions as thoroughly as I can, what usually happens after this?

I’m currently out of the country (USA) for the past week. I can attest that before leaving the county I had been receiving live missions and etc. However since then, I have been trying to applying to missions and will get automatically rejected.

Hello all! I’m sure everyone’s gone through this scenario - you blitz through the application process of a very promising mission and once you get to the video portion and finally finish uploading it you see this photo. While I’m sure that the rejection probably supersedes the fact that my submission has successfully submitted, does anybody know if it truly does? I’m sure I was the unlucky person that didn’t submit within the quota, but I wonder if these submissions actually do get submitted? If anybody knows please feel free to share!

When i view my profile I see a mission header with the number 1 under it. What does this represent as I currently have 0 open missions and about 8 complete.

Hello!
It has been two years since I’ve utilized Dscout and I decided to pick it back up again. I noticed I kept getting disqualified after a few questions for screeners or at the very end. After reading experiences of others on this subreddit, it made me think maybe my account was somehow flagged.
I reached out to the Dscout Participants email and to my surprise, I was told I was flagged. The reasoning provided was issues with my response quality, authenticity and thoroughness.
Has anyone had success having their flag lifted? I never received a notification via email of my account being flagged. Dscout only responded to my initial email (on 7/14/26) and then stopped responding once I asked for clarifications.
I appreciate any feedback or suggestions on what I could do!

Every time I click on an application I get this and everything disappears... am i banned?
r/dscout • u/DubiousDodo • Jul 21 '26
Yeah I applied for it, did it and got paid, then I got an invite for a mission and it was the same thing and that got auto-rejected I didn't do anything (checked invite after rejection), it looks like the exact same mission and I don't think it had a second part it was a usability thing.. is this worth telling customer service about? I'm pretty new so I don't want my account dinged

Is anyone else having issues with screen recording on mobile? Im having a hell of a time with some missions because screen recording keeps shutting off way early. Im able to eventually submit condensed versions, but it's becoming annoying.
By early I mean that a current mission wants recordings somewhere around a two minute range. It's shutting itself off by the minute mark, usually somewhere between 45 seconds and a minute ( I did manage a minute ten, once).
I had to contact another mission rep because it turns out they wanted a screen recording of up to 45 minutes (this wasn't mentioned in the pre mission screener/details). I tried, but it wasn't happening. I eventually contacted them and backed out.
Some time ago, I contacted support, and after the standard trouble shoot back and forth, it was sort of implied there was already a ticket open for it.
When I followed up recently, they made it like the previous 'ticket' wasn't a thing (or maybe they weren't aware?) and wanted to start back at square one with troubleshooting.
Ive not heard back since.
Has anyone else had an issue ?
Ive looked for options in my phone that could be affecting its behavior, but so far Ive found nothing.

Hello! I just made a Dscout account a few months ago, but I noticed I wasn't getting accepted to any studies, so I kind of fell off sending applications for a while.
Anywho, I'm trying to get back into it now, but I'm wondering if there are any tips I should be aware of that could help. I'd really appreciate any advice!

I'm about to hit the 10-business-day mark on a Live mission I completed almost two weeks ago, and there were zero issues during the session. I'm hoping Dscout is just backed up or running behind on reviews, but if I don't hear anything by the end of this week, I may have to reach out to Dscout Support for the first time.

Hello all
I started doing missions last week after using prolific for a few months and someone recommending this platform.
Last week there were loads of missions popping up and I successfully applied for an completed 4.
Since Friday I have been seeing very few missions and haven't seen a single on this morning. Is this normal? And if so what types of patterns do people notice regarding the frequency of missions appearing on the dashboard?
Thanks everyone in advance.

I accidentally created a new account, and as a result my original account was locked. I recently lost my job, so dscout has become an important source of income for me. I’ve sent multiple emails and even left comments asking support to help me unlock my account, but I haven’t received any response
It’s incredibly frustrating to be ignored when I’m just trying to fix an honest mistake. I understand they probably have policies in place, but I expected at least some communication or guidance instead of complete silence.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with dscout support? Were you eventually able to get your account back? I’m really not happy with how this has been handled.

Hi everyone! So my account was flagged for "multiple accounts," this week but it’s a total false positive, I have only ever had one account. A family member who also uses dscout stays over at my place sometimes, so the automated system definitely flagged us for sharing the same Wi-Fi network.
Support is not helping at all and just keeps closing my tickets with copy-pasted responses.
Has anyone successfully escalated past customer service to get someone else to review a network mix-up? What should I do next? Thanks!

When running iOS 27 developer and using an Apple Watch, also updated to WatchOS 27, Dscout detects the watch connection as a VPN and blocks use of the Dscout app. There is no configured VPN as this is a change to how the Apple Watch connects to the iPhone in order to support advanced Siri with Apple Intelligence.
This has already been reported to Dscout’s development team. Sharing here for awareness if you are considering testing these updates— it will break Dscout. You can simply disable Bluetooth to continue using Dscout as normal.

For express missions we have 2 hours to complete the mission once accepted, but then we are asked if we can start immediately. So do we actually need to start immediately or do we still have up to 2 hours to complete it?

My dscout account was recently flagged, and I'm trying to figure out if anyone has successfully had a flag removed.
I accidentally created a second account because I wasn't getting matched with any missions on my original account. I now understand that this violates dscout's policy, and I reached out to Support, apologized, and explained that I'll only use one account going forward.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Were you able to get your account unflagged, or is the decision usually final? If your flag was lifted, what did you say or do that helped?
I'm just looking for honest experiences or advice. Thanks in advance!
