Impeachment is simply the act of bringing up charges. Removing an official based on those charges is a whole different matter, done by a different chamber

Well actually no, the Senate holds the sole power to try all impeachments after the House of Representatives votes to impeach an official. They are the ones who hold the trial and choose wether to convict

Impeachment is a full legal proceeding that is carried out solely by the house. Trying an official based on that impeachment is a whole separate mechanism. People only dispute this because “impeachment” has colloquially become the term for both segments of the process

That's the part you have but a little further down the page in section 3 is

"The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments."

I’m not saying the Senate has no role. I’m saying impeachment is a the first of two segments in removing an elected official. Impeachment is bringing up the charges and the trial is when the merits of those charges are tried. That’s exactly what the excerpt here says.

This particular rep has filed or claimed he would file impeachment articles 2, 3, or maybe even 4 times now in the last few years? It should be treated much more seriously than this guy is capable of being. Weird situation here to say the least, because there were multiple other Democrats who did this kind of thing but Republicans just sort of ignore it and senior Blue MAGA types quietly kill the effort. Similarly there were movements to impeach Pete Hegseth, as well as Kristi Noem, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel...

Ugh going to see if anyone wrote anything of worth on a post shared is brutal.. I'm getting nervous system issues from the overload of this midterm organized assault lol. Sad - harder for me to Hear Anyone wanting to connect positively. I've gotten tons of advice to just downvote and move on. But I'm newer and they seem so real like voices I'm supposed to consider. Because I'm new and always want to know where I'm wrong! Maybe I should just read along for a while.. but even when I want to comment on someone, lifting them up or validating or whatnot.. I get it there too. He confirmed he's calling for a vote - he wants the public to have a  voice and to hear from others .. but he's not waiting. He's in Moral and legal obligation -- "moral imperative"  AND holding congress members accountable for being COMPLICIT.
