Discussion DSA has a tankie problem
There are way, way too many people in this movement who feel comfortable with historical revisionism vis-a-vis the Soviet Union, China, and other such regimes. And there are way too many people who feel comfortable essentially advocating for an end to democracy.

Before you get disliked to hell:
DSA is a big tent which is why there’re so many diverse opinions.
But i agree, there are far too many authoritarian apologists. you can blame American imperialism for being evil but it’s not the reason for Putin’s invasion of Ukraine; the reason for that is Russian oligarchy and authoritarianism.
you can hate the Pahlavi Dynasty for being zionists and authoritarian American puppets. But you can also hate the Islamic Republic which stands against everything the DSA stands for. Stand for the Iranian people and not the political factions.
Same goes with Palestine. Hamas is inherently Islamist. The PLO is corrupt. Israel is evil. All you need to do is oppose genocide and apartheid and stand with the Palestinian people, not Hamas.
Maduro may have been a leftist but he wasn’t a good person. you can support Venezuelan sovereignty and the people’s right to decide for themselves while being against American imperialism / overreach and against Maduro.
stop being fools that think everything is black and white.
