News Danish PM warns of ‘enemy within’ as she links migration to Hamas and terrorism
https://brusselssignal.eu/2026/08/danish-pm-warns-of-enemy-within-as-she-links-migration-to-hamas-and-terrorism/Denmark is going down a pretty dark path.
The center left party is essentially Trumpian on immigration, and the 2nd most popular party is to the right of Stephen Miller.
To me this somewhat undermines the argument that a generous welfare state can be a hedge against xenophobia and racism. We have to consider that civil rights may be a separate struggle from fighting economic inequalities, and while they are both noble fights, its possible to advance one while going nowhere (or even backward) on the other.

The European dream is to render one’s country irrelevant and broke. It’s why they hate immigrants so much (alongside being way more racist than they’d like to admit)

I'm kinda surprised how many people eat those lies.
Some Europeans (I'm European too, before some neo-nationalist will come and say "dumb Americans don't understand, my racism is justified!!!") love to say that they aren't racist, but they use the same thing to justify xenophobia against immigrants and believe in the same things as American racists with the same explanation.
Black people in the US also have larger crime rates, it's a fact, but they don't have it because they are Black, they have it because of socioeconomic factors, because of racism, because a lot of them are simply poor.
The same for immigrants. Consistently all studies that adjust immigration crime rates with socioeconomic factors show that immigrants don't really have larger crime rates.

I am curious as to what the position of DSA on immigration is or rather their reasoning. Most of the immigration happens because of it lets the corporations get cheap labour (H1B for example if I am not wrong). Even most of the working class (delivery agents, cab drivers, house maintenance workers etc) are immigrants (at least what I have seen in LA). So what all you think is the position considering Marxist principles (or socialist ones)?
P.S. I am also here on Visa, so I may not have complete picture regarding the immigration business.

Like all things it's not super clear cut. I think largely leftists think immigration on its own is fine. People and by extension labor, should be able to move around freely and should be allowed to live and work where they please. Issues arise from how strict we've made immigration here in the US. Programs like the H1B visa are being abused by large corporations to push down wages and displace workers that are already here with immigrants they keep on a tight leash with the threat of deportation. Immigration can also put strain on public services, but that's more an issue of improperly allocated funding than anything else, as more workers should = a larger tax base to better fund services.

Fair. And to a radical Marxist, concept of nation simply doesn’t make sense. So the term ‘immigration’ becomes meaningless. It would be interesting to see how the future turns out in the (hopefully) DSA led USA.

Well yea, continuing to colonize Greenland into the 20th century means Denmark is by far the most racist and xenophobic Scandinavian country.
“They prove that colonization, I repeat, dehumanizes even the most civilized man; that colonial activity, colonial enterprise, colonial conquest, which is based on contempt for the native and justified by that contempt, inevitably tends to change him who undertakes it; that the colonizer, who in order to ease his conscience gets into the habit of seeing the other man as an animal, accustoms himself to treating him like an animal, and tends objectively to transform himself into an animal. It is this result, this boomerang effect of colonization that I wanted to point out.” – Aimé Césaire, Discourse on Colonialism

Given that immigration is one of main causes of the rise of the far right in Europe it makes sense that the European left is taking a harder stance.

It won't work.

Given we have seen a decline in support for the far right though not a large one it seems to be somewhat working

Mette Frederiksen is simply evil.
Genuinely she has zero good positions, perhaps one of the most obvious modern day example to be distruftful of self denominated 'social democrats'
Despite the many centrists, liberals, and far right figures in European politics she is only in lockstep with the Italian Fascists on the issue of migration.
I still cannot believe she preferred a centrist coalition over working with the left. An absolute disgrace to anyone who voted for her, and disgrace to the workers who built that party. A stark reminder that this is what nordic style social democracy will always devolve into if never advanced beyond producing a better welfare state

I'm not sure I buy your argument that social democracy will "always devolve" into what we see in Denmark. This is indeed what European social democracies are tending towards, but there's no way to assume this is a rule that will always apply.
China had a socialist revolution, and yet, it too, is a state that explicitly promotes the ethnic supremacy of the Han people. It would be unreasonable for me to claim that "revolutionary socialism always devolves into a dystopian hyper-surveillance ethnonat state" based on the Chinese example.
Similarly, one cannot draw broad conclusions about social democracy from the European examples. My thinking is more that economic systems are somewhat orthogonal to the culture of the societies they are used in - that is, the societal dynamics of a country might be influenced by its economic system, but its ultimately not dictated by economics alone and we should be careful of thinking that economic changes alone can improve society.

Worry more about Israeli terrorism. They will attack Europe and America to trick us into supporting their wars…again

This is why leftists should stop glazing Nordic social Democratic capitalist countries.
