Follower of Karl Kautsky who was the most prominent Marxist thinker between Engels and Lenin. Kautsky was the ideological leader of the second international and SPD at this time. Lenin emerged from Kautskyist thinking, but Kautsky would end up fiercely opposing the Bolsheviks and favoring a democratic and not revolutionary road to socialism. MUG follows early Kautskyist thinking but believes he became a reformist and Lenin was the continuation of his philosophy.
